Genesis Collection in October October is Respect Life Month. The Confraternity of Christian Mothers is sponsoring a parish wide appeal on behalf of Genesis of Pittsburgh. Genesis assists young women experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Beginning this weekend you will see two bassinettes in the church Narthex. We are asking all parish families to consider donating baby items to fill the bassinettes. Diapers size Newborn to 6, baby wipes, receiving blankets, bath towels, baby wash, Onsies and sleepers size 0-3 or 3-6 months, bottles formula, etc. Let us work together to make this an outstanding collection for an organization that is not only helping new mothers who have chosen to keep their babies but has taken on a huge new challenge in supporting grandparents raising their grandchildren due to the incarceration or substance abuse of their adult children. Thank you in advance for your generosity and willingness to be the hands of Christ. Learn more about the mission and services of Genesis at genesispgh.org.
Sensory Friendly Masses All families with children on the spectrum and those with disabilities are welcome to our Sensory Friendly Masses. Often these families do not feel comfortable coming to Mass for a variety of reasons: music, crowd, length, lights and so on. There will be 3 Sensory Friendly Masses offered by Fr. Leroy DePietro at the La Roche College Chapel. The Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, and December 15, 2019. The Masses are quiet, in a smaller space than the typical church, and any and all noise is welcome. We hope to see you there! Questions?? Email Lale Virostek at [email protected].

Safety Training While we pray that our churches, or any other place, do not have to confront an intruder intent on harm, it doesn't hurt to be prepared should a situation ever arise. The Hampton Township Police Department will be conducting “ALICE” and stop the bleed training in November at St. Mary and St. Ursula. ALICE stands for “Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.” Stop the bleed training aims to equip us to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. We’re offering a Thursday evening and Saturday option at both locations. The training is expected to last approximately 2 hours. The training will cover the same topics on each of the dates (i.e., you do not need to attend multiple sessions). The dates/times for the training at St. Mary are Thursday, November 7, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and Saturday, November 9, from 9:00am to 11:00am. Chief Vulakovich just had a conflict arise on one of the dates for the training at St. Ursula; we hope to have the St. Ursula dates for the training confirmed by next week. The training is open to everyone.
YOUTH MINISTRY St. Mary School News
Home with the Lord - St. Mary & St. Ursula
Remember Lord and welcome into your Kingdom those who have died and have gone before us marked in the sign of faith, especially Joseph R. Loncaric and Robert Kaelin. Please remember to pray for the consolation of their loved ones.
As we look forward to the remembering of all those who have died on All Souls Day, celebrated on November 2, we have a Book of Remembrance, in the foyer of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, so that all Parishioners might add the names of their loved ones to our prayer list. Simply place the names of those who have died in the book and they will be especially remembered during our All Souls Day celebration.
Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
St. Mary Faith Formation Faith Sharing for 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus continues teaching about the necessity to “PRAY” and gives us an appropriate prayer from the words of a tax collector, a person despised by Jesus’ contemporaries. The man prayed, “O God, be merciful to me a sinner.” Jesus pointed him out as the one “justified.” What is your prayer this week? Faith Formation: Grow In Faith Together Parents/ Guardians, and children who attend public schools meet in class October 27-28 THIS Sunday. October 27, Parent Session in Marian Hall, 10-11 a.m. Workbooks available for the continued study of the Gospel of John to grow in intimacy with Jesus.
