Examples of activities you can do at home

1) Make connections by linking mathematicswith everyday life. E.g. Count the number of clothes folded.

2) Use your child's toys to teach them thinking skills. E.g. Sequencing of number showing position (Ordinal).

3) Use cloth hangers and pegs to apply mathematical concepts such as number bonds.

Examples of activities you can do at home1) Draw logical conclusions

e.g. Can you buy a pack of sweets with $1?

1) Apply mathematical conceptse.g. Compare the amount of money spent

1) Use application skills by identifying the shapes they see outside.

1) Develop reasoning skills by asking why they are shaped this way.

1) Use thinking skills such as classifying or comparing the shapes / patterns.

1) Make connection between Mathematics and everyday life by telling the time of some activities. E.g. What time is dinner?

1) Developing thinking skills by comparing the difference in your height and your child's height.

Measurement

1) Practise reading the time out loud before any activity. 2) Create own study plan. (in pockets of 1 hour or 30 min)3) Use the geared clock and see how the hour hand moves.

How Can I Help My Child?★ Spend quality time - involve your child in daily counting activities

as you go through your day. ○ E.g. how many steps it takes to go to the door?

★ Nurture a love for Math - help your child learn Math through manipulating concrete materials, diagrams and interacting with others.

★ Use items from around the house to experiment with addition, subtraction, and "more" and "less" activities for authentic learning
