NC Standard Course of Study• 4th Academic Focus:

– Reading: Comprehension Strategies and Vocabulary instruction through whole group lessons, guided reading, read alouds, and literature circles

– Spelling: Patterns and high frequency words– Writing: Personal and Imaginative Narratives;

Content Writing (expository/nonfiction)– Math: Math Expressions Units with enrichment

lessons– Science: Earth Materials, Magnetism and Electricity,

Animal Studies, Food Chemistry through Science Kits– Social Studies: NC Geography and History
