These are supportive courses, such as Skills or Living, which have noormal entry requirements. They can help your son or daughter to gaincondence, build sel-esteem and gain new skills while developingexisting ones. An entry level coursemay be suitable i they need somepreparation beore taking a Foundation

Level qualication. These are usually vocational courses, such as Introductory Diplomas andNational Vocational Qualications, soyour son or daughter will need to thinkabout what area o work intereststhem. They last one year and can leadonto Intermediate Level, or into an

Apprenticeship or employment. There are no ormalentry requirements, but it will be an advantage tohave some GCSEs at grades E or F, or an Entry Levelqualication.

Entry requirements or Intermediate Level can vary, but your son or daughter is likely to need either a Foundation Levelqualication or some GCSEs at grades D to E. Most courses are vocational, such as NVQ Level 2, as well as the opportunity to take a Diploma or re-sit

or gain extra GCSEs. Intermediate Level courses usually take one year tocomplete.

Advanced Level options include A Levels, BTECNationals, Advanced Diplomas and AdvancedApprenticeships. To learn at this level, yourson or daughter will usually need at least ourGCSEs at grade C or above, or an IntermediateLevel qualication. Advanced Level courses
