President's Award for the Environment (PAE)

Bukit View Secondary School (BVSS) was awarded the President’s Award

for the Environment (PAE), Singapore’s highest environmental accolade!

SEC-LEE Foundation Singapore Environmental

Achievement Award (Public Sector)

Bukit View Secondary was awarded the SEC-Lee Foundation Singapore

Environmental Achievement Award (Public Sector) by Singapore

Environment Council (SEC).

Innergy (Schools) Award 2016Bukit View Secondary won the Innergy (Schools) Award 2016 for the

Teaching and Learning Category for project title – “Coding and

Computational Thinking Infused (Cactus)” Curriculum package.

MOE administers the Innergy Awards to recognise innovative projects that

have brought about significant benefits to stakeholders.

Shell STEM Youth Innovation Challenge

Our school team came in 3rd place in the Shell STEM Youth Innovation

Challenge held at Ngee Ann Polytechnic on 18 July 2016.

Australian Mathematics Competition

5 students (3 Upper sec & 2 Lower Sec) had achieved Distinction

Julieanna Talavera Laboc, 2N1, achieved the 7th Position at the All

A Government-to-Government exchange programme between students of Singapore Secondary Schools and The People’s Republic of China (PRC) Junior Middle Schools

SINO-SIN Student Exchange Programme

• To broaden linkages between Singapore and China

• To foster international understanding, collaboration and bonding between our students and the PRC students and

• To imbue in our students a global perspective and fresh insights on life outside their country.

Objectives

• Inbound – The PRC delegation from Chongqing will visit Singapore and BVSS from 5 to 14 July 2017.

• Outbound – Our school will make the trip to Chongqing from 14 to 23 November 2017 (tentative).

Dates

ProgrammeCultural Immersion:

The PRC delegation will visit local places of interest and learn about the culture and heritage of Singapore

School-based Programme: Accompany the PRC buddies in our school for 3 days as they experience our local curriculum and school

Family Interaction Weekend:

• 8 and 9 July 2017

• Host the assigned PRC buddy with bonding activities to some of Singapore’s local attractions

• No homestay for this weekend.

• Each PRC student will be paired with one of our local students throughout this programme.

• Students in this programme must commit to both components of the programme.

Eligibility• Must be Singapore Citizen

• Must be able to converse in Mandarin

• Good conduct and preferably good academic result and hold leadership position

• Estimated to be about $1000 (airfare and travel insurance)

• Other expenses such as accommodation and local transport will be fully paid for by the local government.

• Students will receive a subsidy of $500 from the school with the balance to be paid through withdrawals from their Edusave accounts or cash/cheque.

• Students who are on the MOE financial assistance scheme may also apply for additional subsidy.
