TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
With Parents and Teachers working together in a team, fourth grade has a better chance of being the best schoolyear, so far, for learning!

HOMEWORK POLICY * usually one math sheet and spelling homework
* occassionally another sheet of homework
* I will give around 5 days notice before any tests/quizzes
* in addition reading every night and practicing math facts (division/multiplication)
CONSEQUENCES
Students are responsiblefor bringing their homework home and filling out their planners daily.
If they do not, they must finish either in Studyhall or during morning meeting.
*all missed homework will be logged

CLASSWORK POLICY Students are individually responsible for completing and handing in all class work before recess.
If students to not finish classwork, they will have 10-15 minutes at studyhall, during recess, to complete it.

CLASSROOM PARTIES
We will be celebrating a few times throughout the year.
I will need 1-2 parents to help organize and attend parties.
I will choose the room parents at random.
We will be having....
* Fall/Halloween Party- Craft and a Snack * Winter Party - Cookie Swap * Valentines Day- We just need a parent to make cupcakes* Spring- Ice Cream Party (more info. on this)

SICK DAYS and VACATION DAYS
When your child is absent, please do your best to make up any missed work in a timely manner.
If you HAVE to go on a vacation during the school year, districtpolicy is that we do not send work home in advance.
Your child isencouraged to continue to read, write, and practice their math facts while on vacation.
In both cases, please send your child back to school in with a note for the office stating why your child was absent. Please include their student ID number and room 14 on it.

Colonial Day
Each classroom will host a different componentof colonial day (i.e. weaving, games, dame school).
Students are encouraged to dress up! Teachers will be as well!
Colonial Day is usually right before Spring Break.

We have snack, daily, during reading time.
Please provide ONE healthy snack for your child a day.
Feel free to send in water for your child to drink throughout the day.

Birthdays
Food treats are not allowed for birthdays atFishkill Plains.
Please send in stickers, pencils, etc.
Please let me know ahead of time, if you'd liketo have your child celebrate their birthday inclass.
Birthday invites- you are more than welcome to haveyour child hand out invitations for their private birthdayparties if they will be inviting the whole class or all the girls or all the boys.

Planners
At the end of each school day, I show the childrenwhat their homework is and explain any handouts.
Then, I write on the planner on the board.
After this, each table is called to pack up.

Bloomz
I will be communicating through an app/websitecalled bloomz.com.
It allows me to share photos, add updates, post schedules and post volunteer lists.
In addition, it allows me to send private messages.
The only people with access are those who aregiven permission.
