Parenting 101: Your All-In-One Guide To Better Behaved Kids
Every parent can use a little advice from time to time. This article will give you some
situations and tips on how to cope.
Good parenting is one of the best gifts that you can give your child to prepare them for their
life ahead. If your toddlers misbehave by insisting on being the center of attention, it's
imperative to teach them patience and that everyone will eventually get their turn, including
them. Time-outs can be effective when toddlers are being stubborn or selfish because it
removes them from being the center of attention.
When you are a parent, it is especially important to make time for taking care of your own
needs. Regardless of your schedule or agenda, take a break and relax for a few minutes
when you can. When you are relaxed and happy, your children will feel that way too.
Make a hand signal that you and your child know, which lets you tell them in a discreet way
that they are being inappropriate. Doing so gives your child an opportunity to change their
behavior before you must punish them.

grains, and veggies. Exposing your child to healthy foods makes them more likely to choose
those foods as a snack when given a choice.
Although taking care of your children may be your primary focus, it is important to take care
of your needs as well. Regardless of your schedule or agenda, take a break and relax for a
few minutes when you can. By the time you return, you will feel ten times better and it will be
reflected in the interactions between your children and yourself.
Focus on creating a clear, positive set of household rules without being too prohibitive. This
makes it easier for all family members to coexist peacefully. Instead of saying "no hitting" you
could tell your children to "touch gently", as it is a kinder way of saying the same thing.
Avoid pushing your young children to walk or potty train at a particular age just because their
siblings may have done it at that age. Children mature at different rates, and trying to force
things could cause unwanted developmental delays.
If you are away from home with a young child, try to retain their eating and sleeping routines
if you can. Travel can seriously stress out children, especially very young children. The
bedtime rituals especially will help your child feel more comfortable in the new space and
allow him/her (and you) to get enough sleep!
You should not spend a lot of money on nursing equipment right before you have your baby.
Basic nursery staples like cribs, diapers and blankets are readily available at major retailers,
like Walmart, and are far more affordable than their department store counterparts. Due to
the short useful life of items like these, friends and family members may have old equipment
that they are no longer using, as well.
Set a goal to save each year and the money will add up quickly. These savings must never
be dipped into, though. Money taken out of college savings can be hard to replace, and after
the first dip is taken, subsequent withdrawals will only get more tempting.
With these tips, you are better equipped to be successful at the hardest and most important
job in the world. Keep in mind the information you have learned from this article, and give
your absolute best to your child. Parenting is a great opportunity and you should do your best
to enjoy it.
