In order for st udents to reach their full academic potential, they must be in school to receive instruction. Please schedu le family trips during non-instructional times. The following are Department of Education and Keone’ul a school guidelines: Tardies If a student is not in class at the 7:50 a.m. bell he/she is tardy . Tardy student s should repor t to the office to obtain a tardy slip before going to the classroom. Absences If your child will be absent, please remember to give us a call a t 689-1380. Students who are absent 3 or more consecutive days are required to bring in a doctor’s note. Family vacations a nd/or trips are considered unexcused absences. If you are planning on going on a trip, please contact the principal or vice principal immediately Release from School Students who must be released during school hours due to medical/dental appointments must be signed out at the office. Parents must obtain a student pass before student will be released from school. Parent/Guardian should inform the teacher and office ahead of time so the paperwork can be prepared. Students must b e accompanied by an adult listed on their emergency card. Please be prepared to show an identification card. Student Arrival & Departure For the students’ safety, please ensure the timely arrival and departure of your child(ren). Students who eat breakfast should arri ve beginning at 7:00 a.m. All others should begin arriving at 7:30 a.m.  When students arrive at school, they should walk directly to the classroom or cafeteria. Students waiti ng for the classroom to open should be sitting in the area designated by the teacher. Students shoul d not be run ning around or playing on campus before and after school. Teachers who arrive early do so to prepare for the school day and are not avail able t o su ervi se the stude nts.  Emergency Information Make sure that you have completed your child’s emergency health card. If any changes occur, please notify the office immediately. It is important that we have current contact numbers so that we are able to reach you du rin the scho ol da . Messages for Students Please do not call the office to have messages relayed to the students. We  will relay messages only in an emergency.

Attendance Guidelines

Breakfast Program

Breakfast is prepared for D.O.E. studentsand staff members only. Breakfast is servedfrom 7:00-7:35 a.m. Students will not beserved after 7:35 a.m. Breakfast must beconsumed in the cafeteria. Parents may notpurchase breakfast for siblings and other 

family members. Parents must wait outsideof the cafeteria.

Breakfast & Lunch Accounts

All students must have a credit in his/hermeal account prior to taking a school

breakfast or lunch. There is no money 

exchange in the cafeteria line.

A collection drop box is available in the office

for payments by cash or check. Payment

envelopes are available in the office. Checks

should be made out to the Department of 

Education. Please be sure to clearly write

 your child’s legal name on the envelope.

If on occasion a lunch loan becomesnecessary, reminders will be sent home with

 your child. Loans should be repaid on the

next school day. Loans are limited to 5

lunches per student at any given time.

Application for Free/Reduced Lunch

If you are applying for meal assistance,please follow all instructions and turn inthe form to the office quickly. We willreview for completeness and submit tothe School Food Services Branch (SFSB).They will process your application anddetermine eligibility. A letter ofNotification of Eligibility will be senthome upon determination.

Students who received free and reducedmeal benefits last school year willcontinue that status for only 30 schooldays or until September 14, 2010.Applications must be submitted andprocessed within this period todetermine continued eligibility. Pleasecall the office if you need assistance.

Parent Community NetworkCoordinator

Mrs. Charol Danielson is our Parent Community NetworkCoordinator (PCNC) who helps tobuild relationships with our Keone’ula families through thecoordination of our volunteers andfamily projects throughout theschool year. If you would like tovolunteer, please contact Mrs.

Danielson.

Library

Parents are welcome to come to the library every Tuesday & Friday from

2:00-2:30 PM and Wednesday & Thursday from 7:30-7:45 AM. Interested

parents can pick up a library application at the library. The cost of the

library card is $1.00. Completed applications and fee should be turned in to

the front office. The library card will be available by the next borrowing day .

Parents are able to borrow up to 5 books at a time.

Counseling Program

Mr. Aaron Chung works with our

students in PreK, Kindergarten(E105-E108), Grades 2, 4, & 6.Ms. Heather Iguchi works withour students in PreK,Kindergarten (E101, 109-110), 1,3, & 5. If you have any questionsabout your child’s academic,social or emotional developmentfeel free to contact us.

Traffic Information & Pedestrian Safety

When dropping off and picking up students, weask for your assistance and patience. The right

hand lane is for drop-offs only. Students need to

exit and enter the car on the right side. The

middle lane and far left lane is for passing only.

As you come into the parking lot please make sure

that you move all the way down and pay attention

to the JPOs and staff members directing traffic.

We greatly appreciate your assistance in thismatter.

Parking Lot Procedures

Please be cautious and courteous at all times

and consider the safety of your child, yourself 

and others.

•  Cars must park in designated “VISITOR”

stalls only. No double parking and

parking in the fire lane is not allowed.

•  Coned areas designate NO PARKING.

•  Cars parked in handicapped stalls must

display a PLACARD.

•  The curb fronting the school office is fordrop‐off and pick‐up only. Do not leave

your car unattended.

•  Children should exit and enter cars

quickly to the right at the drop‐off curb.

•  Children should not walk through the

parking lot traffic alone.

School Uniform

Students are required to wear

the Keone’ula red t-shirt. T-

shirts can be purchased at

Education Works located in

Dole Cannery on Iwilei Road.

School Bus Passes

Applications for bus passes are availablein the school office and should besubmitted on a timely basis. Payment

must be received in order to be issued abus pass. Qualified students, who live a

mile or more from Keoneula will beallowed to ride the school bus to school.

Students must have a pass in order toboard the bus. Parents of 6th grade

students must first fill out a space

availability form. Please see office staff

for any questions.
