All students are offered subjects based on1. merit (overall sec 2 performance)2. interest and 3. aptitude (relevant sec 2 subjects)
A subject is offered when there is a minimum class size of 8 students, depending on the nature of the subject.

BackgroundofAppliedsubjects• In the MOE Workplan seminar 2013, Education Minister Mr Heng Swee Keat announced that every secondary school will in the coming years, provide an Applied Learning programme, to make learning come alive.
• From 2017, Seven new applied subjects, ranging from Electronics to Sports Science, were set to become part of the O‐ and N‐level tracks to give students a chance for more hands‐on learning.
• These subjects have been rolled out in 2017 to 2018 in more than 60 secondary schools
Assessment Mode of ElectronicsPaper 1 – Written PaperThis written paper consists of two sections. All questions are compulsory. Section A: Six to ten short answer questions Section B: Four 15‐mark questions
Paper 2 ‐ CourseworkThis is an application‐specific electronic project whichinvolves the design, building and testing of an electroniccircuit to solve a specific problem. Project is carried out over 32 hrs in Secondary 4.
