Clifton was established in 1942 and has consistently offered experience and
expertise in termly, weekly and periodic Prep School boarding.
Our beautiful rural setting in the foothills of the Drakensberg offers children
opportunities that cannot be replicated in urban schools. The freedom and safety
our day scholar and boarder children enjoy on our 60ha estate and the surrounding
farmlands has to be experienced to be understood.
Our Vision
To be the ideal place to grow children
Our Mission To provide a home from home for all our children, utilising our unique and beautiful surroundings. We aim to establish sound academic structures within small classes while focusing on developing the individuality of each child. We acknowledge the potential of each child to make a difference, and in so doing equip our boys and girls to face the challenges of life in contemporary South Africa and the world in general. Our Values Clifton Preparatory School is an inclusive inter-denominational Christian school. We hold the values of honesty, integrity and tolerance at our core. In all areas of pursuit, fair play, good manners and wholehearted effort are encouraged. Good citizenship is developed in our children to assist them in becoming contributing members of whatever community they live in. Our Motto Prodesse Quam Conspici – To accomplish rather than be conspicuous.

School Song
For the beauty of the earth
For the beauty of the skies
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies
Christ our Lord to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise
For the joy of ear and eye
For the heart and rains delight
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense to sound and sight
Christ our Lord to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise
For the joy of human love
Brother, sister, parent, child
Friends on earth and friends above
For all gentle thoughts and mild
Christ our Lord to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
The Grace
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
And the love of God our Father
And the fellowship, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us
For evermore and evermore and evermore
AMEN

If your child is injured at school or on a school outing (sport or other)
please contact the San or Bursar immediately to discuss procedure with
the school insurance.
• Day Scholar children:

enough to attend classes.
10
- Please notify your child’s teacher/tutor or reception if your child
is not well and going to be absent.
