PARALLELING/TRIPLEXING
ADVANTAGES OF PARALLELING CABLE
● Only one reel needed instead of three
● Ideal if you have limited space available forreel pay offs
● Only one set of reel stands needed instead ofthree
● Lower installation costs, smaller spacerequired for install
● Fewer people/less labor required for install ascontractors/installers often dedicate oneperson per cable reel during the cable pull
● Smaller area required for the storage of reelsneeded for a project
● Less waste (empty reels) to dispose ofafter project
ADVANTAGES OF TRIPLEXING
All the advantages of paralleling, but alsoincluding:
● Eliminates jamming possibility
● Greater maximum pulling tensions can be usedsince all three conductors can sustain the entiretension of the cable pull
● Lower Impedance
● Lower Electrical Losses
CONSIDERATIONS
● Larger circuit sizes could possibly require largerreel sizes and reel weights
● Bigger reels sometimes require bigger cranes
● While paralleling can be done at servicecenters, triplexing must be done atmanufacturing facility
● Paralleling and Triplexing may require longerlead times
