UMCOR Sunday Sunday, October 14
We’ll celebrate and learn more about the work of UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) in responding to areas that have been hit by disaster during the worship service. A
special collection for UMCOR will be taken up this day in response to the recent hurricane that hit the Carolinas and caused much damage on the East Coast. Donations may be made any time in the month of October- checks may be made out to the church and marked for “UMCOR.” 100 % of our giving to UMCOR goes to those in need of assistance- none of it is used for administrative costs.
Oct-Nov Worship Series The Book of Ruth: A Story of Hope
Sundays, Oct 28-Nov 18
The story of Ruth in the Bible is story of hope and joy, of how God is in our midst all the time, even in the times of heartbreak in our lives. Come and see how Ruth’s story helps us
to understand how God works in our lives, and how the story points us to the hope and the joy that is a main part of our Christian faith today.

Halloween Candy Donations
Sundays in October
Two ways to participate: (1) Join in the fun and come on out with your car,
decorate your trunk in a creative way, and hand out candy to kids at the Paradise
Trunk or Treat event this year on Halloween. (2) Donate individually wrapped
candy during the Sundays in October. Drop off in the church foyer. Contact
person: Pastor Sonya at [email protected] .

Adult Sunday School (classroom hallway in main building)

Worship Service (sanctuary)
Children’s Church (children ages 4+ begin in the sanctuary, then are dismissed for age-appropriate lessons)

Media volunteers: We are looking for a couple of more people to be
trained to run the media booth during worship on Sunday mornings in
order to have our volunteers work on a rotation basis. Contact Pastor
Sonya at [email protected].
Walk to Bethlehem planning volunteers- Our fun December outreach
event, Walk to Bethlehem, is in the planning stages! Volunteers who
are willing to be on the planning and preparation committee are
desired. Contact person for more information- Michele Hodges at
Ongoing Mission Project
North Texas Stockings for Soldiers
The women’s group is sewing Christmas stockings and filling them
with items to be given to active duty military and veterans as a way
to say thank you for their service. Donations can be dropped off in
the church foyer on Sunday mornings through October. Contact person: Women’s
group president, Kay Stephens, at [email protected].
Items to be collected (small sizes and individually wrapped): body lotion, sunscreen,
deodorant, shampoo, disposable razors, baby wipes, dental floss, foot/body powder,
toothbrushes, toothpaste, q-tips, bar of soap, hair conditioner, hand sanitizer, playing
cards, word search books, nail clippers, kleenex packs, peanut packages, fruit roll ups,
gushers (candy), hard non-melting candy, candy canes, hot cocoa packets, trail mix,
gum, jerky sticks, snack crackers, powder drink mixes, peanut butter packets.
