    Question 1

    Set A

I would suggest squash because it is an interesting game. My friend does not need to pay the entrance fee

because he is under 12. Therefore, he can save up his pocket money. The squash courts at SLM Sports Complex

are open from Monday to Friday. My friend is free on Friday evenings so he can go on that day. He does not have

to buy a squash racquet because he can borrow one from me. The sports complex is not far from his house so he

can go there to practise on his own.

    Set B

I would suggest squash because my friend has a new squash racquet. He won the racquet in a competition

organised by a sports magazine. If he takes up squash he will put the racquet to good use. Therefore, squash is a

good sport for him to pick up. As my friend is under 12, he does not have to pay entrance fee to practise at the

sport complex. He can use the money he saves up from the fee on isotonic drinks after his practices. Therefore,

he does not have to burden his father with extra expenses. The days and time the courts are open are suitable for

him so he will not have to miss any of his tuition classes. In addition, SLM Sports Complex is within walking

distance from his house so he can go for his practices independently.

    Question 3

    Set A

I would choose the T-shirt and shorts because my brother will like it. It is made in Malaysia. The material used is

cotton. The purpose of buying the T-shirt and shorts is to see my brother's big smile. He likes to exercise and wants

the T-shirt and shorts for a long time. The price is reasonable and affordable. I hope he will be happy with this gift.

Set BI would choose the T-shirt and shorts because my brother is an active sportsman. He exercises every morning and

evening and would appreciate the gift by us. The T-shirt and shorts are made of cotton materials, so they can

absorb sweat. It is also comfortable and suitable to be worn during sports activities. In addition, a cap will be given

free, which is useful and trendy. Therefore, my brother will not make a fuss when he receives our gift.

    Question 4

    Set A

I would go to ASEAN restaurant because I like to eat in the hotel. It is very cool to eat in there. I have many

brothers and sisters so this place is suitable for my family. The hotel is near my house so we can go there easily.

    Set B

I would go to ASEAN restaurant because my family members prefer a balanced meal compared to the buffet and

complete meal. Although Japanese cuisine comprises of healthy food, it is unsuitable for my younger siblings as

they do not enjoy eating raw food. The family restaurant is also not an ideal place since it caters for small families

only. There are eight members in my family (including my grandparents) so the ASEAN restaurant would be a

better choice for us. Furthermore, there is a free flow of soft drinks. This is an added advantage as most of my

siblings love soft drinks. My father would not burn a hole in his pocket just by paying for the drinks.
