    COACHES COMMENTS

Hello Panthers fans welcome to my

    corner!

Recently we made the short journey overto Leeds Carnegie to play our very rstNational League game ater what seemedlike an everlasting preseason. In doing socreating club history byachieving our rst evernational league victory85 44. The score line seems emphatic

however it didnt eel like that on the day!The rst two quarters were very scrappyand hard ought, a mixture o nerves andunamiliarity seemed to be the diagnosis.Consequently we a ound a cure in the thirdand ourth dominating play hitting a lot oopen cutters and setting some hard screensto ree up shooters.

Upon refection the game was an

ideal starter or the season all 12 mencontributed to the victory supplemented

with travelling ans who brought a lot

o noise made it a great experience orme. It was a great game to test thedepth and player rotations o our squadagainst Division 4 opposition. The gamedidnt totally go our way however when

something was askedo the squad they dulyresponded with fare and achilling sense o execution. We are now looking to

carry this momentum orward and make

    winning a habit.

On a nal note I would like to thank you allor attending tonights game, your supportdoes not go unnoticed and is denitely theheartbeat o the club. So please continueto support and remember MAKE SOMENOISE!

ts all change in division 4 North or the2013/14 season, ollowing the very earlywithdrawal o Bradord Dragons II and

Childwall Academy there are 10 teams in the

division 8 o whom are new teams with onlyHull Wasps and Liverpool (Mersey Tigers)remaining rom last season.Teesside Lions have been relegated romdivision 3 and should be amongst theavourites or promotion as they have areputation or being one o a handul oteams at this level who recruit rom overseasand this season have a pair o high calibrePortugese players, along with stalwarts HullWasps who have recruited impressively, including GB U20 John Stewart who starredin division 2 in 2012, and look strong thisseason. The North East, a hot bed o basketballtalent, has 3 sides representing this season,Gateshead Phoenix have recruited ex BBLplayers Dijon Fisher and Will Spragg both owhom won championship medals with the

Newcastle Eagles, and should are well.Rounding out the trio o North East teamsBBL clubs Durham Wildcats and thepowerhouse Newcastle Eagles have bothentered 2nd teams. Historically BBL 2ndteams do not perorm well as they are used

as a stepping stone or junior players to gainexperience, however you can guarantee thatthey will be well coached and well drilled.Merseyside has 2 representatives this season,

Liverpool who are perennial strugglers at thislevel and who nished bottom last seasonhave now merged with exiled BBL teamMersey Tigers and now represent a massivethreat, whilst Seton Stars II are the 2ndteam or the eastablished and strong division3 team.Leeds Allerton High Carnegie are a youngathletic team who were England schoolsnalists last season and have joinedorces with the much heralded Carnegieprogramme to take its players to the nextlevel. Leeds Tigers make up the division, another relatively unknown quantity whowon the Leeds basketball league division1 title last season. Tigers are led by highscoring Aussie Jarryd Moss whose deadly 3point shooting should ensure they remaincompetitive.

With so many new teams it is impossible topredict who will reign supreme at the endo the season, what we do know is that it isgoing to be a antastic season o basketball.
