Charles Town Family and Friends,

Well, the time has finally arrived. The 2011-2012 school year is over and summer vacation is here! Firstand foremost, we would like to thank the students for an amazing year. From the nervous sixth gradersto the anxious seventh graders to the confident eighth graders, we have had an amazing group of students. These kids make coming to work every day a joy and an experience that we will deeply miss.Some of us have been able to see the students grow, not only as students, but as young adults from the

first year they stepped into this building. The change that occurs in students from sixth to eighth gradeis profound and while we are saddened by our eighth graders departure, for the halls of Washington, werest easy knowing that they are well-prepared and will go on to do great things. We still have some timeleft with our sixth and seventh graders and are looking forward to pushing them to new levels of academic excellence and extra-curricular achievements as they grow into successful young adults. We'dlike to give special thanks all the adults (parents, grandparents, guardians, friends, etc.) who play suchan important role in our students' lives. The parent/teacher relationship is invaluable to a successfulacademic career and we've had the opportunity to work with some wonderfully supportive adults as wepush our students toward excellence. The late-night homework, trips to the store to pick up projectmaterials, rides to and from school for the Science fair, and the list goes on and on... none of this wouldbe possible without such supportive partners in education and for this, we cannot thank you enough.We'd like to wish everyone a safe and fun-filled summer. All of our students will assume a new role nextyear and the eighth-graders will be leaving us altogether for Washington High School. It has been apleasure and we wish you success and good fortune as you continue your academic journey!

We would like to take time thank our very active, supportive, and generous PTSO. We are grateful fortheir wonderful teacher appreciation delicacies. We are thankful for their dedication to Fitness FieldDay, fundraising and boosting student moral. We have been very fortunate to have such a dynamicgroup of parents.

Purple Puffin News

Teachers are missing many books. If there are any books at yourhouse that belong to the school, please return them. Notices formissing library books will be sent out in June. Please keep youreyes open for any books from the teachers personal libraries aswell. Their names or CTMS-6 th will be written on them.

Ms. Diamond would like to shout out a big THANKS to Brook Brownand her mother, Dallas Brown, who works at Petco. She arrangedfor our class to get a terrarium for the frogs. It is a very niceterrarium; the frogs love it, and SO DO WE! They are fun towatch!

This has been a wonderful year for me. The kids have been great andenjoyable to teach. To leave teaching on such a high note is a blessing. Iknow I will miss working with the kids, but am anticipating many newexperiences that come along with retirement.Please have a safe and peaceful summer.
