Panel 1 What people say about steroids and the use of it in sports, as provided by Global Sports Development. Panel 2 First Statistic The first question was "When U.S adults were asked which has the most PED use: MLB or NFL?" MLB was answered 26%, while NFL was 23%. I thought it was weird the statistics were not equaled to 100%, which made me think what the remaining 51% was for. Nonetheless, these specific statistics are not surprising to me. Major League Baseball is the most known sports for steroids. Football doesn't necessarily say steroids. Rather, HGH and other substances. Football certainly has steroids, but I think people get confused because of the term they say instead of steroids, performance- enhancing drugs. Panel 3 Second Statistic Another stat line is "37% of adults believe incentive for athletes to earn more money is the main reason why there is use of performance-enhancing drugs in professional sports." I, in a way, believe this, but to a more certain extent. Take NFL football as an example. Brett Favre is one the best quarterbacks to play in the history of the NFL. He played the bulk of his career for the Green Bay Packers and was simply phenomenal. Then, after many seasons under his belt, the Packers felt it was time to draft a quarterback as Favre is on his way down. They drafted Aaron Rodgers from UC Berkeley. Rodgers is now one of the best quarterbacks in the league and on his way to ever if he wins more Super Bowls.

Panel 1

What people say about steroids and the use of it in sports, as provided by Global Sports Development.

Panel 2 First Statistic

The first question was "When U.S adults were asked which has the most PED use: MLB or NFL?" MLB was answered 26%, while NFL was 23%. Football certainly has steroids, but I think people get confused because of the term they say instead of steroids, performance-enhancing drugs.

Panel 3 Second Statistic

Another stat line is "37% of adults believe incentive for athletes to earn more money is the main reason why there is use of performance-enhancing drugs in professional sports." I, in a way, believe this, but to a more certain extent.

The point I am making is though money is certainly a reason for why players use steroids, so that they play well and get that check, a bigger reason is there is going to be that next person out of college who is coming to get your job. I'm not saying Brett Favre took steroids, but the point was to show that there is a person coming for your job and you will do anything to avoid doing so.

Panel 4 Third Statistic

The next statistic is "7 in 10 adults feel PEDs will always be a part of professional sports." Originally, I thought yeah, this seems right. But then I realized that I'm surprised that it isn't 9 or 10. For me, I am a 10. PEDs will always be in professional sports. As long as there is money involved to be better and you will get that check and if there is that 20-year old coming for a 34-year old future Hall of Famer, there will be PED use. Drugs aren't going anywhere. Marijuana is now legal. It is false that it really is legal because there are so many stipulations, such as you actually can't smoke in public. There are certain drugs are on its way to become more and more legal, yet some other drugs are being nailed down to never use. There can't be both ends of the drug business. Colleges are constantly being run by fraternities and sororities and the amount of parties with drugs is increasing. These college athletes are still college students and for some of them, they bring that lifestyle to the major league level.

Panel 5 Fourth Statistic

The next statistic I found very interesting: "More than 8 in 10 adults say they have no respect for athletes who use PEDs, and 53% say those athletes are criminals." People have their opinions and they are entitled to those opinions. When they think something, they stick to it and it is hard to convince them otherwise. This is a very tough call. Do I have respect for athletes who use PEDs? Of course, I think it is wrong and we should play 100% free of anything but emotion and love for the game.

Panel 6 Fifth & Sixth Statistic

Another statistic showed, "9 in 10 adults agree there needs to be more action taken to prevent the use of PEDs at the Olympics specifically." This led to the other statistic, "Roughly 66% of those who watch the Winter Olympics say that they at least sometimes suspect athletes of using PEDs." Speaking on these statistics, the first one is completely right. I expect it to be near the 100% tile for needing more action to prevent the use of PEDs. This is what I discussed in a previous blog post about what needs to happen to prevent steroids in sports, such as taking away finances, suspensions, and possible lifetime bans. Sports commissioners are starting to track down on steroid use by taking into effect constant random drugs tests. These have been

successful, as it has resulted in several suspensions of all sports. One particular thing about steroid use and how it can be tricky is the use of it in Olympics. The Olympics are full of superstars and some of the best sports athletes of each sport. There is so much testosterone in one place at one time and there have been reports that these athletes are staying in the same places. Though I believe it's more likely steroid use is going to happen more in sports than in the Olympics, I have wondered about these supreme athletes going to different countries, where certain places are easier to pick up steroids and other substances that are considered illegal. Olympic athletes are smarter to know that they can make serious endorsement money off their involvement with the Olympics and they don't need the extra boost because they simply are the best athletes in the world. There still remains the possibility of using substances, such as steroids, as some athletes will do anything in their power to be better than their opponent across from them, who is one of the best in the world as well. This is obviously thought as 90% of people think there needs to be more action for PED use in the Olympics and 66% believe there is some type of steroid use in the Winter Olympics.
