IT’S YOUR P & C…LATEST NEWS! Hello Parents & Carers! Welcome to our final Newsletter for 2017! Our last term has certainly been massive. We have asked a lot from our school community and in true community spirit you have responded. “Thank you” is starting to sound a little hollow but there is no better way to express our gratitude for the support that you show! The P & C is committed to ensuring that our children receive the very best that we can possibly offer. All of our volunteers work extremely hard and you will always see the benefits. We hope to see some new faces in 2017 joining our dedicated team. We wish you the very best for the holidays, a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Till 2017… RMS Update As you are aware the P & C have arranged with the RMS to complete a review of our School Crossings and traffic flows. Unfortunately, we have not met the required criteria for the placement of a “Lollipop Crossing Supervisor”. We simply do not have the required number of children crossing the road unaccompanied. This seems a little contradictory as the reason why we accompany our children on the crossings is one of pure safety.

Till 2017…

RMS UpdateAs you are aware the P & C have arranged with the RMS to complete a review of our School Crossings and traffic flows. Unfortunately, we have not met the required criteria for the placement of a “Lollipop Crossing Supervisor”. We simply do not have the required number of children crossing the road unaccompanied. This seems a little contradictory as the reason why we accompany our children on the crossings is one of pure safety.

However, the RMS has also stated that the situation can be reviewed again in 2017 and we will most certainly be approaching them again.

Out of Zone EnrolmentsAll of you would have received a letter from our Principal, Mr Harris regarding the future of out-of-zone enrolments in 2018. Your P & C is highly concerned with the proposal and therefore we have written to various peak bodies including the P & C Federation to express our disappointment with the proposal. To date we have not received a response however we do expect a response prior to the end of the school year.

Helpers Wanted! Ticket Sales @ Coles!

The sale of our 2016 Raffle tickets has been a little slow and we need to sell more to cover our costs

and make some valuable funds for the school. To meet these goals, we will also be selling Raffle Tickets

to the public at Coles Port Macquarie on Saturday 3 December 2016 from 9:00 am to 4:00pm. If you are

available to help out it would be greatly appreciated. We would prefer it if our regular helpers had a

break from fundraising. If you are able to assist please call Kaylene Monckton on 0419 408 241.

Recipe Book

As you know we are publishing our very own Cookbook celebrating our 20th Anniversary. We were hoping to have the Cookbook available at Spring Fair but extenuating circumstances prevailed. It is hoped that we will have copies available prior to end of term. If you wish to order a copy please let us know! There are limited copies available for $20.00.

Tea Towel Fundraiser

The Tea Towel 2016 Fundraiser has been a huge success! We have sold nearly all of our Tea Towels that were ordered and have a limited number available. They make the perfect Christmas gift so if you wish to order a tea towel, please contact Mrs Bryant at the school.

Currently, we have the following number available: Year 3 – 6 available, Year 1 – 2 available and Year 5 has 2 available also.

A big Thank you to all parents who supported this fundraiser – we raised just over $2000 after costs. We wish to extend an extra special thank you to Tara Page and Megan Bryant for organising and running the fundraiser on the P & C’s behalf.

Paver Fundraiser

Another Fundraiser that has been extremely popular was our 20th Anniversary Paver Fundraiser. We had many extensions to the closing date to ensure that everyone had an opportunity to purchase a paver. We were especially pleased that we even had orders from local schools who wanted to be part of a very special School Commemoration.

We raised just under $3000 after costs to create our special Sensory Garden! That is a great effort from all of you. Thank you. The Fundraiser met with all sorts of issues that were dealt with by our Paver Fundraising Coordinators – Tara Page & Kaylene Monckton – and we thank them profusely for their involvement.

The pavers will be delivered in early 2017. It is now our intention to create a Committee to oversee further funding through grants etc, engage a landscaper to design the garden and advise on the best siting etc., and see the project through to completion.

If you think you would like to be involved, please email us at [email protected].

Uniform Shop News

IT’S YOUR P & C…LATEST NEWS!

Spring Fair UpdateWithout a doubt our Spring Fair was a huge success! The six months of planning and organising – blood sweat and tears - paid off! It was a hot sunny day but everybody seemed to have a great time and enjoyed themselves. It was great to see such a huge crowd attending and not just from our school community but the Port community at large.

Our goal was for everybody to have a great time at a community level whilst fundraising for the School Library and our Canteen and we feel that this was achieved!

We are still calculating our profit margins and are just awaiting some final expenses before we are able to announce our final figures, hopefully at our P & C Meeting on Monday 5 December 2016. We know that for many of our volunteers including the Committee this was your first Spring Fair and what a magnificent effort that everybody put in! From the Committee to those Dads, partners grandparents etc., who helped set-up and clean-up. Bravo!

The Spring Fair involved over 150 volunteers on the day! Some of you worked two stalls, some were there from the start of day to the end of day, others simply arrived and said “Where can I help”! What Wonderful community spirit that makes our School special.

The Spring Fair Committee and the P & C wish to acknowledge the support of the parents, teachers and families who made our 20th Anniversary Spring Fair possible. Please accept this as our personal thanks. If we have omitted any names it is not intentional – you know who you are!

We are sincerely thankful to our School Community for supporting our Spring Fair and thank each and every one of you!
