interest to clinicians.

Pre-op Use of CHG Cloths Potentially Decreases Healthcare Costs

Researchers say the use of CHG cloths prior to total knee arthroplasty has

demonstrated the potential to decrease healthcare costs primarily by

decreasing the incidence of surgical site infections. The authors of a study published in The Journal of Arthroplasty found that the cost benefit of using

CHG cloths per 1,000 total knee arthroplasty patients provided their

institution with a net savings of approximately $2.1 million. Further, the authors concluded that the annual healthcare cost savings could be as high

as $3.8 billion. View the abstract | View the article (requires log in)

PeriAnesthesia Standards for Practice 3

Update:

We are in need of BC Reviewers for our next

version of our Standards. Our French translator is

ready to translate each section as we complete it,

but we require that the Standards be reviewed in

English first.

We will be asking Reviewers to look at only small

portions of our Standards, so that it isn’t an onerous

task for anyone. The more reviewers, the smaller

portion we will have for each to review.

The reviewers need to represent all jurisdictions of

the country. We need BC representation.

If you are interested, please contact PANBC asap.

Thanks

Dear SQAN community,

A learning board is a tool that encourages frontline input, keeps

everyone in the loop about improvement, and allows leaders to

see all this information at a glance. It sounds too good to be

true… but we found a group that’s done it!

Mimi Huizinga led the charge to spread learning boards across

the LifePoint health system as the VP of Quality. They

transformed the relationship between the frontline and

leadership, allowing everyone to play a role in improvement.

Join us to find out how they did it!

Learning Boards – How Can We Harness the Potential?

Wednesday, October 2

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Guest speaker: Mimi Huizinga, Vice Chair of Quality at

Vanderbilt, formerly VP Quality at LifePoint

Web-conference via WebEx or go to

Standards Update : We are in need of Reviewers for our next version of Standards. Our translator is ready to translate each section as we complete it, but we require that the Standards be reviewed in English first. As they are translated, then Reviewer(s) in French can begin reviewing these as well. We will be asking Reviewers to look at only small portions of our Standards, so that it isn’t an onerous task for anyone. The more reviewers, the smaller portion for each to review. The reviewers need to represent all jurisdictions of the country.
