General Description

The Bose® 402® Series II loudspeakeris a 120-Watt speaker designed forpermanent installations and portableuse in indoor and outdoor commer-cial applications. As a new additionto the Bose line of InstalledAnywhereTM loudspeakers, it meetsour strict standards for outdoor use.The 402 Series II loudspeaker offersthe following features:

Each 402 Series II loudspeaker usesfour (4) 11.34cm full-range driversmounted in symmetric vertical pairson a faceted Articulated Array® baffleassembly. The drivers feature low-impedance, edge-wound aluminumvoice coils, 12-ounce Ferrite Vceramic magnets, and moldedpolyester frames. Their advancedcone and motor system gives themhigh linear excursion capability andpower output. Environmental durabil-ity is built into soft parts - cone,surround and spider - and coatedonto the hard parts of the driver.These materials optimize the InstalledAnywhereTM - performance of theloudspeaker.402 Series II loudspeakers are usedin combination with the Panaray®

system digital controller or the Bose1600 or 1800 amplifiers. They work incombination with the 402 plug-in EQcard to provide active equalizationfor the system.

The 402 Series II loudspeakers aredesigned to be wall or ceilingmounted, or mounted on stands forportable use. The following versatileaccessories are available from Bose:

• WBP4 402 Wall Mount Bracket(0-45˚ pitch, ± 60˚ yaw in verticalorientation; ±28˚ in horizontalorientation) (black and white)

The loudspeaker shall be a multipledriver, full-range system with matchedactive equalization as follows:The transducer complement shallconsist of four (4) full-range environ-mental drivers of 11.4 cmdiameter, mounted vertically in afaceted baffle. Each driver shall havea rated impedance of 1.6Ω and shallbe wired in series, resulting in acomposite speaker assembly nominalimpedance of 8Ω.

The loudspeaker system sensitivityshall be 99dB-SPL in the 300Hz to3kHz range and 91dB-SPL in the90Hz to 16kHz range with bothmeasurements referenced to a 1 Watt(2.83V) pink noise input at 1 meter.The nominal horizontal beamwidthshall be 120 degrees, and the nominalvertical beamwidth shall be 60 de-grees. The power handling capacity ofthe loudspeaker shall be 120 Wattscontinuous pink noise, band-limitedfrom 90Hz to 16kHz.

The loudspeaker shall be providedwith a ducted vent system, tuned at95Hz. The input connectors of the402® Series II loudspeaker shall consistof two parallel Speakon® NL4 recep-tacles.

The enclosure of the 402 Series IIloudspeaker shall be composed ofmica-reinforced polyethylene copolymerstructural foam. Its outer dimensionsshall be 23.25"H x 8.1"W x 7.25"D (59cmH x 21 cmW x 18 cmD); its weightshall be 15 lb (7 kg).The loudspeaker shall be the Bose®

402 Series II loudspeaker system.

The loudspeaker system shall be usedwith a Panaray System Digital Control-ler, to be connected beforethe input(s) of the system poweramplifier(s), or with a 402 EQ card, tobe installed in a Bose 1600 or 1800amplifier.
