Location• The latitude and longitude of

Panama is 9° N and 80°W.

The Oceans or Seas located around Panama are the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

Place

• The climate of Panama is warm because of its range toward the equator.

• The lowlands are normally 80°F all year round.

• There is a small amount of volcanic action. It is also a mountainous country.

• Some of their main crops are corn, coffee, beans, bananas, tobacco, and sugarcane.

• Two of their common trees are the palm tree and the date tree.

Place• Population- 3 million inhabitants are in the area

of Panama.

• Some of the wildlife in Panama are cougars, flamingos, porcupines, and monkeys.

• Their main language is Spanish. They have 4 major cities such as Panama City, San Miguelito, David, and Tocumen.

• One attraction is the Darien National Park. It is a place where people can go hiking and bird watching.

Human Environment Relationships• Some of Panama’s natural resources are fertile

soil, copper, iron, shrimp, and pearls oysters.

• Agriculture declined when the Panama Canal was built. Shoemaking is a main industry.

• Some other jobs are farming, and fishing.

Human Environment Relationships• Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero- He was the first

President of Panama in 1904. He was also born in 1833 and died in 1909.

• Rodney Cline Carew-A famous baseball player who was born in 1945 and died in 1996.

• Ruben Blades-Was a singer and actor who was born in 1948.

Movement• A few of their transportation services are trains,

boats, airplanes, and cars.• One of their traditions in the Kuna tribe is to put

black stripes over their noses to keep away bad spirits. Another tradition is that they make a scarecrow a couple of weeks before the new year. They burn it on New Year’s. They do this to welcome the new year.

• Their communications are phones, radios, and the internet.

• There is a lot immigration into Panama because people want to sell things to tourists as their job. There is not that much migration.

Region• Government- The chief of state is the president.

Constitutional Democracy is their republic. The money that they use are U.S. dollar bills, but the coins they use are Panamanian.

• The north of Panama is cut off by Costa Rica and the south is cut off by Colombia.

• Some of the ethnic groups include Chinese, Native Americans, East Indians, Panamanian, and the Europeans. They also have local tribes and Panamanian ethnic groups.

• Different religious groups are the Roman Catholic, Islam, and The Church of the Black Christ.

Sports

• A few of the sports they play in Panama are football, which is called soccer in the U.S, tennis, rugby, and golf.

Food

• Favorite foods in Panama are sopa borracha, corn, beans, and seafood. They have a wide variety besides!

Music

• Some of the music that Panamanians listen to are rock, jazz, mambo, and salsa music.

The KunaThe “Kuna” are an indian tribe in Panama. The women wear winis, patterned beads, around their wrists and ankles. The women also wear the molas that they sew as their dowry. The kids of the Kuna are greatly taken care of. They live in little villages on an island of Panama.
