    - Me-too-ism: for example Thats

    nothing, let me tell you what happened to

    me!

    - Moralizing, preaching, being

    judgmental

    - Negative or Condescending tone of voice- Over analyzing

    - Interrupting

    - Lack of respect for the other person

    - Culture differences

    - Poor listening skills

    - Physical barriers (e.g. noise,

    TYPES OF

    COMMUNICATION

    -Verbal: sounds, words, language, and

    speaking

    -Non-verbal: physical ways of

    communication such as tone of voice,

    touch, smell, body language, sign

    language

    -Written: writing the words which you

    want to express

    - Visual: displaying information inphotos, signs, posters, symbols, and

    charts.

    THE 21ST CENTURY

    Technology has changed the way we

    communicate with parents, co-workers,

    and other personnel. It has made

    communication quicker and more

    efficient, but not always more effective.

    communicate:

    - Voicemail - Wikis- Skype - RSS feeds- E-mail - Social Networking- Blogs - Forums, Chats, etc.
