Swimming Sessions

Michael Woods Sports Centre, Glenrothes

A fun activity session held within the warm pool at Michael Woods Sport Centre. The centre

is fully accessible with a number of changing places available as well as family size changing

rooms adjacent to the warm pool. Hoists are also available. This session incorporates

activities focussing on movement, coordination and most of all fun!

Caliaswood School, Dunfermline

We have monthly access to the fantastic hydrotherapy pool within Caliaswood School. The

pool offers excellent facilities such as sensory lights, projected images and bubbles. The

changing area is also fully accessible with hoists available.

Wheelchair Ice-Skating

Our monthly ice skating sessions are held within Fife Ice Arena Kirkcaldy. The session allows

participants to enjoy the sensory elements of skating and includes games, parachute

activities and much more within each session! Volunteers do assist participants around the

ice although carers can come on with the participants (skate hire is included within the

price)

Walking Groups

Our walking groups are set within the beautiful Pittencrieff Park. The session is inclusive for

all abilities to enjoy a short walk around the Glen before returning to the pavilion for

refreshments. The groups are in partnership with Active Fife; @Bums of Seats’ initiate and

allow participants to receive certificates and prizes for milestones they achieve.

SOMA

PAMIS have recently received funding from Active Fife to allow the

implementation of SOMA club!

SOMA is devised from the Special Olympics America Motor Activities Training Programme

which to allows involvement of athletes with complex and profound disabilities. The motor

based activities give athletes an opportunity to participate in a wide range of specially

adapted sports to stretch their abilities and to compete with other athletes within their

functioning level. "Motor" refers to body movement and coordination.

The programme is designed to meet the needs of the athlete and to highlight his or her

abilities. The athletes demonstrate their personal best. Each event is offered at three

different levels:

Level 1 - at this level, physical, verbal and other assistance and prompts are required. Level 2 - at this level, verbal assistance only is required. Level 3 - at this level, the athlete participates independently

Golf

We are looking to introduce an inclusive golf programme to our programme. The session

will include a variety of golf activities with games incorporated all level of abilities. The

programme will break down elements of golf and allow participants to experience the sport

in a fun manner.

Family Multi-Activity Sessions

Looking for something to do as a family? Then this is the ideal activity! Our family multi-

activity session will include a variety of adapted sports and games for all the family to

participate in. Families shall be placed in teams, with the winners receiving a prize – Which

family will be the champions? (this session can be for carers to attend also)

Exercise to Music Class

We are in the process of developing an exercise to music class in partnership with Fife Sport

and Leisure Trust. This exciting new project will cater for all level of abilities, working with

fully qualified fitness instructors with advice from the Learning disability physiotherapy

team. The class shall be a @circuit’ based activity allowing participants to engage in exercise

within their capabilities. Carers are also invited to participate within the class.
