Merhaba means hello
Like many cultures a formal greeting is used between strangers
until they become familiar with one another.
There are many Muslims in Turkey and one greeting that they use is
selmnaleykm, (a Muslim peace greeting), answered by -
aleykmselmThis greeting is mainly used between passing strangers -
normally both male - during travel or on entry to a crowded room,
such as a tea house, when one cannot address everybody personally.

Wikepidia estimates that 99.8 percent of Turks are Islamic.

The general population is mainly comprised of ages between 15-64
being about equally split between men and women.
The general life expectancy for men is about 71 years old and 73
