  • Loan Rule Standardization The PALS Directors have voted to accept a proposal to use a more standardized set of Loan Rules system wide. This will mean a major overhaul of circulation policies county wide. Libraries will choose from among a number of circulation options for each collection. Each library will be guided through the process and updated individually. Transition is expected to take several months and will be organized by zones.
  • Slide 11
  • Loan Rule Standardization Once the Itype Project and Coding Reassessments are completed: A Menu of Loan Rules has been approved by the PALS Executive Board. All PALS libraries will use loan rules from this pre-determined selection. Many elements will be uniform, but choices for Circulation of items will continue.

  • Editing a Record with another Library Attached If another library has attached to a Bib record, it is assumed that they have picked the correct Bib for their item. Edits to this Bib should enhance the record, only. Do not change elements describing the item. When in doubt, copy the record and make edits to the copy to fit the description of your item.
