SCRIPTURE John 13:31-38 ... Mary WoottonWhen he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man has been glori-fied, and God has been glorified in him. If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once. Little chil-dren, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow me now; but you will follow afterward.” Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Very truly, I tell you, before the cock crows, you will have denied me three times.

Minister: Wherefore, O God, we set forth before you this holy supper following his command who, the night in which he was betrayed, took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take, eat: This is my body.” Who in the same way took the cup, saying, “This is my blood of the new covenant.”
People: Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, to receive all power and wealth, wisdom and might, honour and glory and praise.
Minister: And now, Almighty God, we pray you to send your Holy Spirit, that the bread which we break may be to us communion in the body of Christ, and the cup of blessing which we bless, communion in the blood of Christ, that being built up in love we may be strengthened by the unity of the faith, and come to the fullness of the stature of Christ.
