Dear Parishioners, Palm Sunday is the beginning of a week unlike any other week in the calendar. The entire city of Jerusalem gathers to welcome their Messiah. But then, the same men and women and the followers of Jesus aban-don him. His followers go into hiding. Bread and wine is trans-

formed into the body and blood of Christ. Signs of love and affection, like a kiss become a sign of betrayal. En-emies like Herod and Pilate become friends. An inno-cent man is found guilty while a murderer like Barabbas goes free. What appears to be a total failure in the cruci-fixion of Jesus becomes the greatest victory; Jesus’ res-urrection from the dead. This is what we commemorate and celebrate during this Holy Week. May we conclude our Lenten journey in a prayerful way and may we with open arms receive all the graces and blessings that Christ brought for us through his passion, death and resurrection! Yours sincerely in Christ, Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor.

Holy Week Begins WEEPING OVER JERUSALEM

A Poem of Lamentation

Always Jerusalem! My path always leads

To Jerusalem - To my redemption.

Now, mired in sin

I understand - Weep over me, Lord -

One tear will do it.

Recognizing the time Of my visitation -

The key to life And joy.

Can you imagine!

This God—the Beloved - Shows glory

Weeping over me.

Showing me How precious I am,

The time of my visitation Is now.

Works alone

Do not substitute for faith. Weak-willed though I am, I understand that much!

Stripped of all hubris, Strengthen my resolve

As I make my way, weeping - Towards Jerusalem.

Garth M. Stanton Garth M. Stanton is a long time parishioner. He has been on our prayer list for many years. Garth is asking the parish to continue to keep him in our prayers.
