Biblio Globus has given the Grand Palladium Resorts in Jamaica the Award for Excellence for having been chosen by their customers as the Most Popular All Inclusive Hotels in each destination. Our Grand Palladium Resorts in Jamaica have recently hosted ‘A Taste of Spain,’ a tasting of Spanish wines organized by the Jamaican chapter of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and sponsored by the Spanish-Jamaican Foundation and the Spanish Ambassador on the island. The event highlighted the importance of gastronomy to the Spanish culture with a most delightful menu featuring emblematic dishes such as cured ham, gazpa-cho and paella prepared by Executive Chef Frederick Gayle and his kitchen staff. The proceeds from this event will go toward the development of local culinary talent.

El evento ha desta-cado la importancia de la gastronomía en la cultura española con un exquisito menú de platos emblemáticos tales como jamón ibérico, gazpacho o paella preparados por el chef ejecutivo del complejo, Frederick Gayle, y su equipo de cocina. The environmental organizations Ecoservices Dominicana and the Bávaro Limpio Foundation have re-warded our Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa complex in the Dominican Republic for its efforts in recycling and protecting the environment in order to guarantee a sustainable tourism. The Resorts have already processed 10 tons of recycled material and collaborated with children and community proj-ects in the Bávaro area.

Members of our culinary team at the Grand Palladium Resorts in Jamaica have won several awards at the latest edition of the Taste of Jamaica Culinary Competition. The breakdown is as follows: Ernest Levy - Silver Medal in the Lamb Cooking Competition and a trophy for the Best Use of Lamb; Brenton Samuels - Silver Medal in the Pastry Chef of the Year Competition; Rohan McDonald - Bronze Medal in the Fruits and Vegetable Carving Competition; and Damion Meyers and Ernest Levy - Silver Medals in the Chef of the Year Competition. In the Senior Team Cooking Competition, our repre-sentatives won the Silver Medal and a Trophy for the Best Team of the Competition.

Miembros del personal de cocina de los Resorts Grand Palladium en Jamaica han gana-do varios premios en la última edición de la competición culinaria “Taste of Jamaica”. COVA CAN MARÇA: LA IBIZA DESCONOCIDA

DER ABEELLE, qUIEN SE INTERESó EN LA COvA DE CAN MARçà. LOS HABITANTES DE SAN MIGUEL LE AYUDARON A LOCALIZAR EN LOS ACANTILADOS DEL PUERTO LA ENTRADA Y SALIDA DE LA CUEvA. EMPEZARON POCO DESPUéS LOS TRA-BAJOS PARA HACER POSIBLE LA ACCESIBILIDAD Y POSTERIOR vISITA A LA MISMA.

Después de un camino excavado en la roca se llega a la entrada de la cueva en una cota de 12/14 metros sobre el nivel del mar, desde donde se inicia la visita. La cueva tiene una antigüedad de más de 100.000 años y se formó por fallas telúricas. Ha pasado por glaciaciones y calores tropicales, estando en la actualidad casi fosilizada, salvo en las más profundas galerías, donde el goteo continúa formando bellas estalactitas y estalag-mitas.La cavidad denominada Can Marçà fue descubierta

y utilizada por contrabandistas, quienes escondían en ella bultos de mercancías izándolas desde el mar desde una abertura situada en una cota de 8/10 metros. Actualmen-te se pueden distinguir claramente las señales de pintura,

roja o negra, que marcaban el camino hacia otra sali-da en caso de huída o emergencia. En las formas geológicas quedan patentes la riqueza

del curso de aguas subterráneas que discurrían, que-dando fosilizadas las cascadas y cursos de las aguas. Los materiales que se aprecian en el interior de la

cueva, son básicamente carbonato cálcico, óxido de hierro, magnesio, arcilla, etc.Las aportaciones de los geólogos y espeleólogos que

han intervenido para la puesta a punto de la cue-va han consistido en reproducir lo que existió en

tiempos remotos, recuperando las cascadas y los cursos que existieron en aquellos tiempos.

Se han encontrado huesos y fósiles de animales roedores de especies extingui-das, cuyos esqueletos fueron trasladados al Museo de Historia Natural para su corres-pondiente catalogación y para enriquecer

la fauna prehistórica de nuestras viejas tie-rras mediterráneas.

Desde el primer mirador se divisa toda la pers-pectiva de la bahía del Port Sant Miquel, también lla-mado Port Balanzat, con la isla Murada al fondo, don-de existe una especie única de lagartija muradensis con colores intensos y formas prehistóricas.
