The 1st GMCAC Invitational Cup kicked-off last December 11. Eighteen basketball teams and 13

volleyball teams each for the men’s and women’s divisions will participate in the games. The teams

are from the different airport stakeholders, such as airlines, concessionaires, ground handlers, and

government agencies.

3 Cheers for 3 Years GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) hosted Saathee Night for airport stakeholders as it celebrated its 3rd year anniversary as the private operator of Mactan Cebu International Airport. The event brought together airlines, concessionaires and local government agencies in a night of fun and friendship. Long-time partners were also given tokens of appreciation. A separate Rewards Night was held for employees.

Jingle All the Way at MCIA! In the spirit of the holiday season, the airport will host choral performances from December 17-25 in both domestic and international passenger areas.

GMCAC has been recognized by the Department of Education - Division of Lapu-Lapu City as a Top Stakeholder Awardee for its contribution in promoting Quality Enhanced Basic Education and Implementation of DepEd Programs and Projects.

From October 11-13, 2017, GMCAC Security Department and Business Profiles Inc. conducted the Airport Security Awareness training for key airport stakeholders. PAL adds domestic, int’l flightsPhilippine Airlines (PAL) kicked off the month with 4 new domestic flights to Siargao (IAO), Legazpi (LGP), Ozamiz (OZC) and Camiguin (CGM). The following day, PAL launched its 7th international route from Cebu to Bangkok, Thailand.

The inaugural ceremonies on both occasions were attended by VIPs from PAL, the Department of Tourism, GMCAC, and local government units. Khun Kajorndet Apichartrakul of the Tourism Authority of Thailand also gave a message.

On December 10, PAL also started its once weekly service to Beijing, its second destination from Cebu to China.

Pan Pacific connects Cebu to KoreaNew domestic carrier Pan Pacific (IATA: 8Y) has commenced its operations using an A320 aircraft from Cebu to 2 destinations in South Korea: Seoul (ICN) and Muan (MWX). The daily service to Seoul started December 10, while Muan twice weekly service started December 16.

GMCAC holds roadshow in ChinaThe Airline Marketing team of Mactan Cebu Airport (GMCAC), together with the Philippine Depart-ment of Tourism (PDOT) in Beijing and Shanghai, organized a roadshow in key cities last November.

The team met with local Chinese carriers and charter operators in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Chongqing. The main objective of the roadshow was to increase awareness about Cebu as a destination and gateway to the Philippines, eventually adding more direct flights. The response was mostly positive, especially with the improving relationship between China and the Philippines. PDOT has also resolved to enhance visa processing and Cebu’s branding to attract more tourists.
