Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani`s kidnapped son Ali Haider Gilani was recov-ered in a joint operation of Afghan and US forces from an Al Qaeda compound in Af-ghanistan. He was kidnapped after an election rally in May 2013 in his hometown Mul-tan, is expected to return to Pakistan. The Afghan envoy told that Haider was in good health, but would undergo required medical tests before his repatriation to Pakistan.

1st POLICE RECAPTURE RUNAWAY PRISIONERS RAWALPINDI: Police have recaptured two suspects who were freed by a mob from the Saddar Bairooni police, and have launched raids to arrest those who attacked the police and freed the suspects. The two suspects were allegedly involved in as-saulting and robbing a family. A mob attacked a police chowki and freed two individuals who were arrested for intercepting and assaulting a family and then robbing them on Adiala Road.

1st POLICE ARREST A CRIMINAL GANG GUJRANWALA : CIA police arrested three members of Saram alias Gango gang and recovered Rs1.2 million, five cell phones and three pistols from their custody. City Police Officer Muhammad Waqas Nazir formed a team under the supervision of CIA SP Mu-hammad Tahir Maqsood Cheena. The team arrested Malik Saram (ring leader) alias Gango, a resident of DC Road, Hafiz Usman of Peoples Colony and Khwaja Muhammad Ameen of Sui Gas Road. The suspects during preliminary investigation told police that in December 2014, they looted 2.4m from a person at Rajkot. In another incident, they held staff of a petrol pump at gunpoint at Alam Chowk and snatched Rs1.8m from cashier and a rifle from gunman. They looted Rs2.5m from a motorcyclist on Nosheran Road 2nd TARGET KILLING LEAVES TWO DEAD QUETTA: Two people were gunned down in Killi Ismail area of Duki, Levies officials said. Wazir Khan and Sabir Khan were on their way home when they came under fire. 2nd 18 INJURED IN MOSQUE GRENADE ATTACK PESHAWAR: At least 18 people were injured when unidentified attackers lobbed a hand grenade at a mosque in the limits of Tehkal police station. Local people and police officials told that the incident took place around midnight, when 25 persons were busy in having dinner in the main hall of Baitul Mukaram mosque after attending a sermon in Tehkal Bala area. They said that uni-dentified attackers threw a hand grenade inside the mosque and also fired shots in the air. 3rd PERSONAL ENMITY TAKES 1 LIFE NASIRABAD: A man was gunned down in Goth Data Khan area of Nasirabad district, police said. The unidentified attackers fled after leaving Sultan in a pool of blood. Police said that an old enmity could be the cause of the attack.

4th ROBBER KILLED IN POLICE ENCOUNTER LAHORE: A suspected robber was shot dead in an `encounter` in Misri Shah. A police patrol received information that two motorcyclists fled after looting a passerby in Shadbagh. Police said they intercepted the suspects near Signal Stop who opened fire. During a crossfire, an uni-dentified suspect was killed while his accomplice escaped. Police. 4th CERFEW IMPOSED IN MOHMAND AGENCY GHALANAI: Curfew has been imposed in Mohmand Agency owing to worsening security situation, officials told. In this connection, an-nouncements were made from mosques over loudspeakers that curfew would remain imposed from 10pm to 5am in all parts of the tribal re-gion. Security forces have already banned motorcycle riding in the agen-cy for the last 10 days. 5th 5 INJURED IN BOMB BLAST QUETTA: Five personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary were injured when a bomb exploded close to their mobile van in the Eastern Bypass area of the provincial capital. Police officials said that an improvised explosive device was used to target the police van. They added that unknown men had planted a remote-controlled IED in a garbage dump close to the Sher Jan bus stop on the Eastern Bypass. It was detonated when the police mobile was passing through the area. 6th 4 MEMBERS OF BANNDED ORGANIZATION KIILLED TAXILA: Two men and a woman belonging to a banned sectarian organi-zation and a member of a law enforcement agency were killed in a clash in Pind Ghakhara village. Police sources said that acting on a tip-off that some suspects were hiding in the village, a joint team of the law en-forcement agency and the counterterrorism department raided a house, but suspects opened fire on them. Police retaliated and shot dead the suspects Javald, his wife Naheeda Bibi and son Ahmed and took into custody another suspect Mohammed Usman. One law en-forcement official, identified as Sarfaraz, lost his life, while two other people, including a security man, were injured in the clash. Later, police and law enforcement agencies launched a search operation in the area .

7th SUSPECTS OF HONOR KILLING CASE HELD ABBOTTABAD: The Abbottabad police arrested 14 people, for allegedly ordering the brutal murder of a 16-year old by setting her on fire. The suspects also include the deceased’s mother. Ambreen was killed in cold blood as her punishment for helping her friend, Saima, elope. Sai-ma had defied her family wishes by running away with a man of her choice.

12th 5 TTP MEMBERS ARRESTED BAHAWALPUR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), in a major operation near the Sutlej river here, claimed to have arrested five militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lash-kar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ). The spokesman claimed the alleged militants had planned a major sabotage activity in which they wanted to damage the railways bridge on the main Karachi-Lahore section. The teams recovered five improvised explosives devices (IEDs) along with ammunition and arms. Civil defence officer Ms Fatimah said the bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene and defused the five IEDs. 13th 3 DIE AS A RESULT OF PERSONAL ENMITY PESHAWAR: Three persons, including two women, were killed when rival families clashed in Ali Khel village of Frontier Region, Peshawar. A senior official of the political administration told that the incident was result of a feud between local families. The official said the political authorities took action against the suspect and his house was torched as he had fled from the village. 13th TWO BOMB ATTACKS TARGET GOODS TRAIN HYDERABAD: Three wagons of a goods train overturned and six others derailed when two bombs exploded on a track near Goth Mureed Sipio railway crossing in Tandojam. Hyderabad DIG Khadim Hussain Rind claimed that it was an act of a particular group which was also involved in such subversive activities in the past. He said that a 600-foot portion of the track was damaged. The bombs weighing 400 grams were fitted with a timer. 14th 4 KILLED IN TARGET ATTACK UPPER DIR: Four people, including a woman, were killed when un-known persons opened fire on a moving car in Sheringal area of Upper Dir. Sheringal police said a car hired on rent was going to Hayagai from Sheringal when unknown people opened fire on it in Samong area, killing three people on the spot. 15th 2 POLICEMEN KILLED AND 8 INJURED IN BOMB ATTACK QUETTA: Two policemen were killed and eight other people injured in a bomb blast. The explosion, which took place on Sariab Road in front of Balochistan University, also injured a five-year-old child and three police personnel. University students remained safe. `The target of the blast was a police post located in front of the main gate of the university,` Police Inspector Mushtaq Ahmed said, add-ing that an improvised explosive device was used in the blast.

8th 4 DEADBODIES OF MINORS RECOVERED QUETTA: Police recovered four bodies of children including three girls at Killi Faizabad near Airport Road area of provincial capital. According to police sources, working on a tip off, a police party reached the site and took the bodies into custody. The bodies were shifted to civil hos-pital for legal formalities. 8th 6 AFGHAN TALIBAN MEMBERS HANGED KABUL: Afghanistan hanged six Taliban-linked inmates, the govern-ment said, in the first set of executions carried out as part of President Ashraf Ghani`s new tough policy against the militants. Ghani carried out the threat to execute militants he issued after a militant attack last month left 64 people dead in Kabul, in probably the deadliest attack on the Afghan capital since 2001. The executions, the first endorsed by Ghani since he came to power in 2014, might have dashed the last traces of hope of reviving Taliban peace talks that broke down last summer. 9th 4 DRUG DEALERS DEPORTED RAWALPINDI: Four foreign nationals convicted in drug-related offences were deported to their home countries after their sentences were served in the Adiala Central Jail. The deportees were from Iraq, Zam-bia, Ghana and Nigeria. According to prison department officials, they were convicted in drug cases and had completed the sentences award-ed by the relevant courts. The Punjab home department then issued directives to have them deported to their home countries. 10th 22 SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN SECURITY OPERATION SHEIKHUPURA: As many as 22 suspects were arrested with weapons during an operation conducted by the Narang police and other securi-ty forces. Sources said law-enforcement agencies, acting on a tipoff, conducted raids at some places and arrested 22 suspects and recov-ered weapons from them. 11th PERSONAL ENMITY CAUSES HAVOC TOBA TEK SINGH: Around 20 people, including nine women, of two families sustained injuries, three of them serious, when they used axes, iron rods and sticks against each other over a divorce issue of a girl in Chak 350-GB (Gatwala). Villagers said harsh words were ex-changed between men and women of two families. Later, members of both families attacked each other with axes, iron rods and sticks which resulted in injuries to about 20 people.

Officials said the bomb had been placed on the road to target Frontier Corps (FC) and other vehicles passing the area. 16yh POLICE CONSTABLE TARGET KILLED MARDAN: Unknown motorcyclists gunned down a constable when he was going home in Takhtbai area. Police said the victim, identified as Usman Khan, was going home after performing duty at Mayar police post when he was attacked by two motorcyclists. The incident oc-curred in the limits of Saro Shah police station. The attackers escaped the area after the incident.

17th CTD ARREST 2 AL-QAEDA MEMBERS LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested two mili-tants linked to the banned Al Qaeda’s sub-continent outfit. “The sus-pects were planning an attack on a vital government building,” a spokesperson for the CTD said. He however, neither specified the gov-ernment building, nor did give the detail of the suspects. 18th MAN KILLS 3 IN THE NAME OF HONOR FAISALABAD: A man gunned down his wife and two female relatives allegedly for ‘honor’ at Chak 92-RB, in the precincts of Balochni police. The accomplice opened fire at the three women, killing them all on the spot. The suspects managed to escape from the scene after com-mitting the crime. 18th 3 PROTESTERS KILLED IN CLASH PARACHINAR: Three protesters were killed in clashes with Levies Force near Parachinar, officials and witnesses said. The administration arrest-ed dozens of people and security was beefed up in Parachinar and its surrounding areas after the incident. 19th TRAFFIC POLICE SUB-INSPECTOR TARGET KILLED PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants gunned down a traffic police sub-inspector in the limits of Yakatoot police station. 20th POLICE ROUND-UP 45 SUSPECTS MARDAN: A raid in Sheikh Maltoon area of Mardan and rounded-up 45 suspected persons including four Afghan Nationals. Police claimed that the Afghan nationals were living illegally in the Paki-stan territory. The detainees were shifted to undisclosed locations, while further investigations were underway. 20th MEMBERS OF RIVAL POLITICAL PARTY’S CLASH LANDI KOTAL: At least four men were killed in a shootout between two factions of a pro-government armed group in Bazaar Zakhakhel area of Landi Kotal. According to Khasadar officials, supporters of rival factions within the Tauheedul Islam group opened fire at each other after an exchange of hot words over a petty issue.

21st PEACE VOLUNTEER TARGET KILLED TANK: A local peace volunteer was shot dead inside his house in the Gomal area of Tank district. Five men wearing uniform of security forces came to their house and asked them that they wanted to search the house. They brought the victim out to the courtyard and shot him dead in the presence of his family. 22nd 7 KIDNAPPED EMPLOYEES SET FREE WANA: Seven employees of the Fata Development Authority, who had been kidnapped in South Waziristan about two months ago, were set free. Officials said the kidnapped employees had been taken to the Paktia province of Afghanistan. Elders from both sides of the border played a key role in their recovery.

23rd 4 SOLIDERS INJURED IN BOMB BLAST LANDI KOTAL: At least four soldiers were injured in a roadside bomb blast in a remote locality of Khyber Agency. Sources said that a patrol party of security forces was on a routine patrol duty in San-dana area, near Nari Baba locality in Bazaar Zakhakhel area, when it was hit by an explosives device planted at the roadside.

23rd CTD ARREST 3 TERRORISTS LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed to have arrested three suspected terrorists belonging to a banned militant organization. According to a CTD spokesman, on receiving information a team raided a park on Canal Bank road opposite irrigation workshop in Mughalpura and arrested three suspected terrorists. He said the suspects belonged to Saut ul Um-mah that is said to have pledged allegiance to the militant Islamic State group, and were planning to attack important personalities from different institutions in Lahore.

24th 1 KILLED AND 19 INJURED IN BOMB ATTACK PESHAWAR: A policeman was killed and 13 police personnel and six civilians were injured after two bomb explosions hit the city. Medics at the Lady Reading Hospital said that a body and 19 injured were brought to the hospital. Vehicles of the bomb disposal unit (BDU), a private television channel and Rescue 1122 were damaged in the blasts. Police and eyewitnesses said the blasts took place in the Faqir Kilay area on a Pajjagi Road locality in quick succession.

24th BULLET-RIDDLED BODY FOUND GWADAR: The bullet-riddled body of a man belonging to Thatta was found in Mand Bullo, a small town bordering Iran in Kech district. `Multiple bullet marks were found on the body, said a Levies official, adding that the man was fired at close range. 25th 3 LABORERS KIDNAPPED DERA MURAD JAMALI: Three laborers were kidnapped from Goth Has-san Bhangar in Nasirabad district. A fourth one was injured when the kidnappers opened fire at the workers who were busy carrying out construction work at a government-run school for girls in the area. 25th AL-QAEDA HEAD AND 7 MEMBERS ELIMINATED MULTAN: Tayyab Nawaz alias Hafiz Abdul Mateen, who was killed along with seven other suspected militants was the head of Al Qaeda, Paki-stan. According to official sources, three of the militants who were killed in Nawabpur area in an encounter with a joint team comprising counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and ISI personnel were from Al-Ahrar group of banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the re-maining were Al-Qaeda members. 26th 1 KILLED & 4 INJURED IN BOMB BLAST QUETTA: A police head constable of the Balochistan Constabulary was killed and four other personnel were injured in a bomb blast close to their van in the Eastern Bypass area. Police officials said that an explo-sive device had been placed on the roadside near Bhosa Mandi and it was detonated by remote control when the patrolling van of the Balo-chistan Constabulary came close to it. 26th 6 AL-QAEDA MILITANTS KILLED LAHORE: Six suspected Al Qaeda militants were killed in an encounter with police near Muzaffargrah. A spokesman for the CTD claimed that the deceased were the same terrorists who had escaped during an operation. ISI and CTD teams set up a checkpoint on the road leading to D.G. Khan and Balochistan. A police team at midnight signaled a car and a motorcycle to stop, but their riders didn’t stop and opened fire and tried to flee. The car, which had an improvised explosive device fixed to it, exploded after being hit by a bullet fired by police.

27th 6 TROOPS KILLED IN ATTACK GUWAHATI: Six troops were killed and their weapons looted after rebels attacked their convoy in a restive Indian frontier state, police said. The soldiers from Assam Rifles were returning from a landslide disaster site when rebels sprayed their vehicles with bullets in Chandel district, about 120km southwest of Manipur`s state capital Imphal. 27th TALIBAN MILITANTS KILL 2 MINGORA: A village defence committee (VDC) member and his po-lice guard were shot dead in Swat valley by suspected Taliban mili-tants while an army soldier was shot dead in Swabi district. Accord-ing to Kanju police, some unidentified militants opened fire on the village defence committee member, when he came out of his house with his two police guards.

28th 2 REMOTE CONTROLLED BOMBS DEFUSED CHARSADDA: Bomb disposal unit personnel defused two remote-controlled bombs planted by unknown miscreants near the police lines here. The vehicles at the police lines were the apparent target of the miscreants to create panic and fear among people. However, he said timely action by the police thwarted the sabotage attempt. 28th 1 POILCEMAN KILLED & 2 INJURED IN AMBUSH MINGORA: A police official was killed and two others injured when gunmen ambushed their official vehicle in Manglore locality of the Swat valley. This was the second attack of its kind in 24 hours. A member of the Village Defence Committee (VDC) and his guard were shot dead by assailants in the district previously . 28th 2 POLICEMEN KILLED & 8 INJURED IN BOMB BLAST QUETTA: Two policemen were killed and eight others injured in a bomb attack on a police van near the Benazir overhead bridge on Spiny Road. The injured included four policemen and four civilians. According to police officials, an improvised explosive device was planted by assailants near the bridge and detonated when the po-lice van was passing through the area.

29th CTD ARREST 2 MORE AL-QAEDA MEMBERS LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police arrested two suspected militants linked with Al Qaeda and the Islamic Move-ment of Uzbekistan (IMU). They were planning to attack govern-ment buildings in Lahore. He said the police team also recovered 800 gram explosive material, four-foot prima card and two electric circuit detonators.

29th 2 CRIMINALS ARRESTED SARGODHA: Two criminals were arrested after a heavy quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from a car loaded onto a truck being transported to Punjab from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near the Kotmomin Motorway Interchange. The arrested driver told police that the `innovative method` of transporting arms and ammunition to Punjab was adopted to dodge the police. 29th 1 DEADBODY FOUND OF THE 3 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS GWADAR: The bullet-riddled body of a contractor, who was kid-napped with three government officials last week, was found in the Dasht area of Kech district. He was kidnapped by armed men while he accompanied three officials during inspection of development projects launched by the previous provincial government on the instruction of the chief minister`s inspection team. 30th 3 FC PERSONNEL TARGET KILLED PESHAWAR: Three Frontier Constabulary personnel, including a sen-ior officer, were gunned down in a targeted attack. The officer, accompanied by his driver and guard, was going to his office when they were attacked. The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack. 30th 6 AFGHAN SPIES ARRESTED QUETTA: Six agents of the Afghan intelligence agency National Direc-torate of Security (NDS), involved in targeted killings and bomb blasts in different parts of Balochistan, have been arrested, said Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti. Speaking The minister had some harsh words for the Afghan refugees who he said had been found involved in creating unrest in Balochistan.

He said they also recovered 32 books and 104 pamphlets containing hate literature from his custody 31st 2 PEOPLE TARGET KILLED KHUZDAR: Two persons were shot dead in the Khatan area of Khuz-dar town. According to a senior police officer, armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on a vehicle in Khatan area near a govern-ment girls` primary school in the outskirts of Khuzdar town, re-sulting in injuries to two persons.

The month of May witnessed a decline in human losses in militant attacks in Pakistan. The security situation has improved as no high-profile attack was reported during the period and no militant activity was reported in Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan. Balochistan once again was the center of target with 15 militant attacks. These attacks included two grenade attacks, seven Impro-vised Explosive Device (IEDs) attacks, two kidnappings, three militant assaults and one incident of targeted killing. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) stands second with 14 incidents of militant activities, including one grenade attack, four IEDs, two militant assaults, one suicide attack and six incidents of targeted killing. Federally Administered Tribal Areas witnessed slight decline in militant activities with eight incidents of militant activities. The attacks included one grenade attack, four IEDs, two militant assaults and one incident of targeted killing. Sindh stands third with seven militant activities, including one cracker attack, three IEDs and three incidents of targeted killing. A cross-border attack in Mohmand Agency was countered by the security forces in which four militants were killed.
