Coronation Fire Department It is with great sadness we note the passing of Gordon Twa.
Among the many organizations he was a part of, Gordon was a
member of Coronation Fire Department for more than 35
years, a remarkable commitment and achievement serving the
community for all those years, and a wonderful example for us
to follow. He will be greatly missed by all.
The Department has started the ongoing task of replacing out
of date bunker gear, this was greatly helped by a substantial
donation some time ago from Steelhead Petroleum. The new
bunker gear is much lighter, cooler, more visible and offers the
very best in protection for our firefighters. We were also
successful in obtaining a partial grant towards the purchase of
wildland firefighting gear. We look forward to getting out in
the community during the summer months throughout all the
many great events in the town of Coronation! Come and say
hello next time you see us out and about.
Summer is finally upon us and with that brings all the summer
activities that we enjoy. Before you head out on your camping
trip here a few tips to help make your trip a safe and enjoyable
time.
• Test and ensure your camper smoke alarm and carbon
monoxide alarm are functioning
• Check your propane lines for cracks and leaks
• Ensure generators are used in well ventilated areas
• Keep gas and flammable sources well away from
campfires and out of reach of children.
• Check your camper batteries are in good condition and
have not frozen and cracked over the winter, and all
connections are tight and battery covers are on.
• It’s a great idea to carry a first aid kit in your camper
including treatments for burns and stings. Also know
the emergency contact numbers of where you are
camping

Agricultural Plastics and Recycling
The Agricultural Plastics Recycling Group have selected Cleanfarms as the Pilot Program Operator for the three-year
pilot program. Cleanfarms will handle program logistics including collection and transportation to recycle the materials.
Paintearth Regional Waste Management Ltd. has offered one of our transfer stations for the pilot program. We will have
to wait for their response whether our area will be included in the program.
Ag Chemical Jugs
As spraying time comes around, please remember to remove all labels and caps from chemical jugs before bringing them
to the transfer stations. Also rinse the jugs properly so that no chemical residue is left. On a yearly basis we collect
somewhere between 6,000 to 10,000 jugs. It takes a lot of time and effort to make sure that all the jugs will be acceptable
to the recycler.
Styrofoam Packaging
Remember to remove all Styrofoam packaging from your cardboard or other recyclable materials. Presently there is no
way to recycle Styrofoam. All Styrofoam must be placed in the regular garbage bins.
Remember to Tarp and Tie-Down Your Loads
