October 2016 INTERIOR COLOUR Trend Forecast from Paint Place Leading Australian Paint Retailer, Paint Place has once again delivered its annual trend forecast for 2016/17 through a series of trend forecast colours and themes specifically developed for Australian interiors. This year’s themes and colours were developed by well known Trend Forecaster Lucy Sutherland. Lucy is a colour and trend expert and a leading commentator on all things related to interior trends. She is a judge on House & Garden Top 50 rooms and has featured as one of the Top 50 women in design over the past 2 years. She works with major Australian retailers and manufactures to identify trend movements and concepts and relates them back into Australian homes. This years trends are a homage to all things natural. The shapes, the textures and the colours that surround us. We are harking back to simplicity and with a slightly quirky 70’s influence. Colour is our friend and is used to make a statement. Moody blue bedrooms where the colour totally envelops you, lush botanical green walls overlaid with 70’s style plants, and neutral rooms where textures of leather, fur and timber are use to add soul and substance.” Lucy Sutherland Each of the 4 themes were developed into a series of room shots and styled vignettes to illustrate the essence of each trend and interpret it into real interiors. The shots were taken by leading Melbourne based Interiors photographer Nicole England and a styling team who transformed an inner city home into a series of themed spaces

INTERIOR  COLOUR  Trend  Forecast  from  Paint  Place

Leading  Australian  Paint  Retailer,  Paint  Place  has  once  again  delivered  its  annual  trend  forecast  for  2016/17  through  a  series  of  trend  forecast  colours  and  themes  specifically  developed  for  Australian  interiors.  This  year’s  themes  and  colours  were  developed  by  well-‐known  Trend  Forecaster  Lucy  Sutherland.

“This  years  trends  are  a  homage  to  all  things  natural.  The  shapes,  the  textures  and  the  colours  that  surround  us.  We  are  harking  back  to  simplicity  and  with  a  slightly  quirky  70’s  influence.    Colour  is  our  friend  and  is  used  to  make  a  statement.  Moody  blue  bedrooms  where  the  colour  totally  envelops  you,  lush  botanical  green  walls  overlaid  with  70’s  style

plants,  and  neutral  rooms  where  textures  of  leather,  fur  and  timber  are  use  to  add  soul  and  substance.”    Lucy  Sutherland

Each  of  the  4  themes  were  developed  into  a  series  of  room  shots  and  styled  vignettes  to  illustrate  the  essence  of  each  trend  and  interpret  it  into  real  interiors.  The  shots  were  taken  by  leading  Melbourne  based  Interiors  photographer  Nicole  England  and  a  styling  team  who  transformed  an  inner  city  home  into  a  series  of  themed  spaces

into  the  wild

“Take  a  walk  on  the  wild  side  with  natural  materials  and  nature  inspired  themes  to  create  a  living  space  that  is  both  enveloping  and  grounded.  Animal  photography,  natural  leather  textures  and  tones  contrasted  with  the  warmth  of  wool  and  faux  fur  work  alongside  warm  natural  colours  in  shades  of  deep  charcoal,  soft  earth  and  grey  green,”

“Enveloping  and  grounded”

 moody  blues

“Deep  and  moody,  shade  on  shade,  surround  yourself  in  the  comforting  tones  of  deep  blues.  This  impactful  trend  works  perfectly  in  bedrooms  and  living  areas  where  you  want  to  create  a  sophisticated,  restful  space.  Layer  shades  of  blue  together  with  touches  of  pattern  and  texture.  Finish  the  look  with  accessories  in  rough  linen  textures,  raw  timber,  chalky  ceramics  and  a  touch  of  metallic.”

into  the  woods

“  Become  at  one  with  nature  and  embrace  the  outside  in.  Surround  yourself  with  the  lush  tones  of  natural  foliage  and  textures.  Raw  timber,  natural  motifs,  large  scale  indoor  plants  and  terrariums,  wicker  and  rattan  all  work  together  to  make  your  living  space  more  grounded  and  calming.    Rich  greens  with  accents  of  soft  terracotta  work  in  combination  with  soft  grey  greens  and  creamy  white.”

BLUSH

“  Soft  and  sophisticated,  neutral  or  relaxed,  Blush  takes  on  it’s  own  identity  as  a  decorating  staple.  Soft  blush  has  become  one  of  our  go  to  neutrals,  working  as  a  stunning  accent  against  soft  greys,  crisp  whites  and  deep  charcoals.    Layer  your  look  with  natural  timber,  textured  rugs  and  contrasting  fabrics  and  weaves  to  create  a  soft  relaxed  look.  Add  in  accessories  in  Copper  or  Marble  for  an  elegant  touch.”
