Pain For Purpose GainHurt to Heal

How can we expect to Heal if you never Hurt?In order for us to be healed from anything youmust hurt first.

Job had to go through great pain, hurt before he could reachthe healing stage. It is a process that we can not avoid.

    (Read scripture first)Job 2

    Satan Challenges the Lord Again

1 On another day when the sons of God came tostand in front of the Lord, Satan the Accuser camealong with them.2 The Lord asked Satan, Where have you comefrom?Satan answered the Lord, From wandering all overthe earth.

( Notice that the word said again or on anotherday. Last week we spoke on the devil going to Godand God giving him permission to go to Job. That wasnot enough for him. He was determined that Jobwould curse God!)

3 The Lord asked Satan, Have you thought about

my servant Job? No one in the world is like him! He isa man of integrity: He is decent, he fears God, and hestays away from evil. And he still holds on to hisprinciples. Youre trying to provoke me into ruining

    him for no reason.

(God replied to the devil by once again reminding himof His relationship with Job.Now your aggravating me! I told you already it wontwork! But the devil was encourage God in destroy JobHimself for no reason. He knew that he had NOPOWER TO DESTROY JOB!)

4 Satan answered the Lord, Skin for skin!Certainly, a man will give everything he has for hislife. 5 But stretch out your hand, and strike his fleshand bones. I bet hell curse you to your face.

(I asked why did the devil say Skin to Skin?Self-love and Self-preservation (Keeping yourself safe. Preservingyourself ex: Walls, protection moad. As long as Im fine then who cares

about anyone else) are very powerful commanding principles in the hearts

of men.Men love themselves better than their nearest relations, even their

children. People who love themselves will not only venture(take risks,

chance), but give, what it takes to save their lives.

As long as our life is sweet and precious, I look good and I have my health

and all is at ease, as long as I can keep trials from coming my way, Im on

    fire for you Lord!

What if we loose everything and still loose ourlooks! What if you were homeless? What if you had nonice clothes and all the make up being sold to

beautify the outter man? Will you still serve the Lord? Will you still be on fire for the Lord? Or will you turnyour back on the Lord just to keep it all?

We become like the accuser and try to bargain withGod for our lives! God is saying, Dont Provoke him

6 The Lord told Satan, He is in your power, butyou must spare his life!

(Now we already know that the devil can not destroyus. But this Flesh Is not of God.. So what God gavethe devil permission to touch was the Flesh but hecan NOT Touch the soul! He does not have theauthority to do that.

. A challenge given to prove Jobs integrity. The Devil knew it, and we find it by experience, that

nothing is more likely to ruffle our thoughts and putthe mind into disorder than acute pain and disease of

the body. Pain causes you to loose all of yourintegrity! You just dont care. )

7 Satan left the Lords presence and struck Jobwith painful boils from the soles of his feet to the top

of his head. 8 Job took a piece of broken pottery toscratch himself as he sat in the ashes.

(Again the devil left God and immediately struck Jobwith Boils from head to toe.Broken vessel represented brokenessin trial, hurting in pain. The Scraping awayhe scraped the boils off of hisskin..This showed Greatness of His TrialGreatDeliverence of sin!He sat in Ashes.. A man of wealth sitting in ashessymbolizing humility..Seperation! Know that Imgoing through this trial..Im not ashamed.. It is forThe glory of God! I may have to separate from you fora minute while I get through this pain!)

9 His wife asked him, Are you still holding onto your principles? Curse God and die!

10 He said to her, Youre talking like a godless fool.We accept the good that God gives us. Shouldnt wealso accept the bad?Through all this Jobs lips did not utter one sinfulword.

(Our lovely spouses! Cant live with out them!Sometimes our spouses may not understand why weare hurting!

We have to be able to stand our ground no matterwho it may be!)

We must never put our confidence in anyone, noteven your spouse. Trust the relationship you havewith GodAre we able to still talk the Jesus Talk even when ourspouses are not going along with what GOD has

called?)11 When Jobs three friends heard about all theterrible things that had happened to him, each ofthem came from his homeEliphaz of Teman, Bildadof Shuah, Zophar of Naama. They had agreed theywould go together to sympathize with Job andcomfort him.

(Back then this was custom to come to mourn withhim, and to comfort him - To show the appropriatesympathy of friends in a time of special calamity.

So now His FRIENDS decide they will visit tosympothize and comfort Job.

When your going through the last thing you need arespectators! You need someone thats gonna help prayyou through!)

12 When they saw him from a distance, they didnteven recognize him. They cried out loud and wept, and each of them tore his own clothes in grief. Theythrew dust on their heads.13 Then they sat down on the ground with him for

seven days and seven nights. No one said a word tohim because they saw that he was in such great pain.

Jobs three friends come to mourn with and tocomfort him. When they become aware of his misery, they weep and go through all the motions of sorrow.Seven days and seven nights they sit with him on theground and dont speak one word to him;( It wascustomary for mourning to last for seven days andnights.)But when they do begin to speak;Eliphaz speaksthree times, Bildad three times, Zophar twice. Not a

single word, not one syllable of compassion, ofsympathetic love is to be found!

They could not offer Job anything positve. In fact, they really didnt comfort him, they were afraid ofwhat they saw and how he was suffering.

We have to be able to know that without a shadow ofa doubt that God will prevaail. If you are truly therefor your friend, then be there! BE positive! Offerscripture. Offer correction if through the pain I speaknegative! Get me back on track! Dont go along withme and encourage my point of weakness due to thepain!

In Chapters 3-41 It goes on to talk about Job cursing the day he was

born. It talks about Job having a conversation with his friend Eliphaz,

Bildad, Zophar and Elihu and even the Lord.

Job complains about many things. He voices his opinions of others and

makes comparrisons. He voices his impatience during his struggles, as

we do. He voices his opinion of what he thinks is injustice. All of this

proves that Yes Job was still humanFLESH! The very thing that God

gave the devil permission to attack! It just proved that yes we are all full

of sin..but that when put to a test the real you comes out!

His friends who started off helping him ended up discouraging him, by

Emplying that Job may have sinned against God.

But he never once cursed God!

    Job 42

1 Then Job answered the Lord,2 I know that you can do everythingand that your plans are unstoppable.3 You said, Who is this that belittles my advicewithout having any knowledge about it?Yes, I have stated things I didnt understand,

things too mysterious for me to know.4 You said, Listen now, and I will speak.I will ask you, and you will teach me.5 I had heard about you with my own ears, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.6 That is why I take back what I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show that I am sorry.

( Job admits that he was wrong! Can we admit whenwe are wrong and get back in place to obtain thepurpose? Or will we continue to complain and whine

about what we are going through?

God wants us to sit back down in the dust and ashesshow humility.)

7 After the Lord had said those things to Job, theLord said to Eliphaz from Teman, Im very angry withyou and your two friends because you didnt speak

what is right about me as my servant Job has done. 8So take seven young bulls and seven rams. Go to

my servant Job, and make a burnt offering foryourselves. My servant Job will pray for you. Then Iwill accept his prayer not to treat you as godlessfools. After all, you didnt speak what is right aboutme as my servant Job has done.9 Then Eliphaz of Teman, Bildad of Shuah, andZophar of Naama went and did what the Lord had told

them to do. And the Lord accepted Jobs prayer.10 After Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restoredJobs prosperity and gave him twice as much as hehad before. 11 Then all his brothers and sistersand everyone who had previously known him came tohim. They ate with him at his house, sympathizedwith him, and comforted him for all the evil the Lordhad brought to him. Each one gave him some moneyand a gold ring.12 The Lord blessed the latter years of Jobs lifemore than the earlier years. He had 14,000 sheep andgoats, 6,000 camels, 2,000 oxen, and 1,000 donkeys.13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.14 He named the first daughter Jemimah, the secondCassia, and the third Keren Happuch. 15 Nowhere inthe whole country could be found women who were as

beautiful as Jobs daughters. Their father gave themand their brothers an inheritance.16 Job lived 140 years after this. He saw hischildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 17

Then at a very old age, Job died.

    Encouragement:

    1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares foryou.

(Dont worry about anything. Give it all to God. Know

    that He cares for you)

    1 Thess. 2:4

For we speak as messengers approved by God to beentrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is toplease God, not people. He alone examines themotives of our hearts.

(You were called by God! Our purpose is to pleaseGod and not people. Only God can judge you. Dont bediscouraged)

    2 Cor. 12: 9,10

9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, formy power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore Iwill boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses,so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why,for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, inhardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when Iam weak, then I am strong.

At the end of Jobs trial the Lord instructedJobs friends to go back to Job and present theanimals for sacrifice and had Job pray for them.

When you stand your ground and continueto be obedient no matter what people say ordo, God will cause them to have to come backto you and acknowledge their wrong doings. Be

encouraged that no matter what your feelingand the pain that has been inflicted on you byothers does not go unrecognized by God. WhenHe rewards you for your steadfastness, He willreward out open for all to see.

Job was given double back what the enemytook from him.

He gained back 14,000 Sheep, 6,000Camels, 1,000 Oxen, 1,000 Donkeys. He wasgiven 7 more Sons and 3 more Daughters.

At the end of your trial Know that God hastaken you to another level in Him. Know thatthe pain was meant to hurt so that you couldheal. When he has healed you, you will not gothrough that again.

I thank God for the hurt I have felt in pastand current trials, for I know that through myhurting I am also helping another heal.
