It is through design that we can create a better world: better products, better cities, and better spaces. I fully intend to use interior design as a tool to enhance the world around me. My ultimate goal as a designer is to make healthy, functional, and beautiful spaces that can be appreciated for years to come. I am truly honored to be a part of this industry and to have the privilege to make a creative difference.

Project Description:

Rear Facade

Classic City Marketplace is an adaptive reuse project located in the Hodgson Oil Building, focused on environmental and sociocultural sustainability. This project aims to attract a corporate millennial audience, and bridge the population gap between college students and the more established community in Athens, Georgia. Located on the outskirts of downtown, this area has recently experienced several business closures, and is in need of a revival. Classic City Marketplace is a corporate and commercial mixed-use space, providing Athens local businesses, restaurants, and retail spaces a place to thrive. This project focuses on the research and correlation of millennials in the workplace, corporate design, work-play lifestyle, and the impacts of sociocultural and environmental sustainability within a community.

The first floor of Classic City Marketplace is a commercial center featuring retail, restaurants, brewery’s, and a farmer’s market. All of the tenants in the space are authentic, local Athens businesses. The first floor of Classic City Marketplace features: Jackson Street Books paired with Ike and Jane’s coffee shop, The Athens Farmer’s Market, The Last Resort Grill, Goodie Two Shoes - a sandwich food truck, Wuxtry Records, Philanthropy - a women’s store, The Grinning Mule, and Creature Comfort’s bar and beer garden. The first floor utilizes an open plan and encourages customers to wander from place to place.

The second floor is dedicated to corporate headquarter spaces for three of Athens’ most successful start-ups. My Athens is a marketing firm that promotes the city as a tourist destination and spotlights several local businesses. Evo Shield is a sports equipment company focusing on health and fitness. Four Athens is a technology start-up providing space for entrepreneurs wanting to start and grow their own technology companies.

Classic City Marketplace is a corporate and commercial adaptive reuse renovation. The entirety of this project is focused on the concept of balance of interaction between spaces, balance between work-play lifestyle, balance between indoor and outdoor, and balance between natural and industrial environments. Because the existing Hodgson Oil Building is very angular, creating the feeling of balance within the space was a key part of my design. For the circulation of the space, I took inspiration from rail road tracks, providing both direct and meandering paths to destinations.

HOSPITALITY DESIGN

Shinjuku Grand is a Five-Star Boutique Hotel and Spa located in the heart of Tokyo’s business district. Our design goal was to create a timeless and sophisticated space that would be relevant for years to come. We achieved this aesthetic through combining straight lines and organic curves to form a dynamic atmosphere. Although the hotel is set in an urban space, we wanted to modernize the idea of the Japanese Garden and bring the outdoors inside. We were also inspired by the fluidity of water, and have several water features throughout Shinjuku. It is our intent that through our design choices and decisions, we have made a comfortable, yet cosmopolitan space. Concept Development

Tapitas is a Spanish restaurant serving modern versions of classic Spanish tapas or small plates. These dishes are meant to be shared over drinks with friends or strangers, soon to become friends. The design intent with Tapitas was to create a fun and social atmosphere where people could interact, or get away for a more private experience. Tapitas was inspired by Spanish culture and aesthetics.

Enoteca (plural: Enoteche):

an Italian word, which literally means ”wine repository”, but is used to describe a special type of local or regional wine shop that originated in Italy. An enoteca is often run in collaboration with growers in the village or region. Such establishments were named to connote “wine libraries” and were intended as a hands-on source of information on local wines rather than regular outlets of larger quantities of wine.
