Paige Pahlmeyer A native Californian, Paige’s most vivid memory of her junior year in college in Adelaide, Australia was wine country. “You can’t go in any direction from Adelaide without hitting vineyards,” she says. “That's when I fell in love with wine.” Upon graduation, Paige embarked on what was to be a brief vacation in California’s wine country – and never looked back. She took a job with Merryvale – a winery then owned and managed by the who’s who of Napa Valley including Bill Harlan and winemaker Bob Levy. Paige and Jayson met in 1991 when he was contracting with Merryvale to produce his Pahlmeyer wines. She began working with Jayson full time in 1992, they married in 1996 and, together, grew the Pahlmeyer brand. “It was work and work-associated play every minute of the day,” she says. “I don’t know how we managed the schedule we did. Our ‘office’ was our bedroom, with faxes (remember those?) coming in at every hour of the day and night…” The winery finally hired a general manager in 2000, the year Jayson and Paige’s son, J, was born. Since then she has remained active in the winery, heading hospitality, and serving as president for two years. “I’m here to foster the Pahlmeyer dream - and ask the right questions,” she says.
