DEADLINE: October 14, 2011 The Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning provides education opportunities to DePaul students that are based in Vincentian community values. The Center seeks to develop mutually beneficial, reciprocal relationships with community organizations. The Catholic Schools Initiative (CSI) is a mission-related community service employment program that allows DePaul University students to work in selected K – 12 urban Catholic schools to provide tutoring, mentoring, and supplemental enrichment activities. The program aligns strongly with the Steans Center’s strategic priorities to engage the city to extend classroom learning, prepare students to be socially responsible future leaders, and to pursue lifelong civic engagement and a concern for the public good. Positions currently available: · Maria High School, Assistant to the Principal · Visitation Elementary School, Tutor/Mentor · Maternity BVM Elementary School, Tutor/Mentor · St Pius V Elementary School, Tutor/Mentor · Josephinum Academy, Administrative Positions Requirements: · Work 15-20 hours a week · Must be enrolled as a full time DePaul University student · Must be federal work study eligible · Must be willing to travel (positions located off campus) · Must enroll in CSS 101: Catholic Social Teaching (First Year Only) · Must complete Virtus Training ( 3 hours)
