How did the people react to Peter’s
speech and the outpouring of the Holy
Ghost of the Day of Pentecost? Read the
verses below from Acts 2 to find out.
Underline the question they asked Peter.
Notice how Peter answered them.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked
in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the
rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what
shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 40 And with
many other words did he testify and exhort,
saying, Save yourselves from this untoward
generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were
baptized: and the same day there were added
unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued steadfastly in the
apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in
breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And many
wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had
all things common; 45 And sold their
possessions and goods, and parted them to all
men, as every man had need. 46 And they,
continuing daily with one accord in the temple,
and breaking bread...did eat their meat with
gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising
God, and having favor with all the people. And
the Lord added to the church daily such as
should be saved.
Underline what the early members of the
church did to show their faith (vs. 42-47).
The people felt the Spirit touch
their hearts and wanted to do
something about it!
Peter told them to repent and be
baptized.
3,000 people were baptized that day!
The new members of the church
shared their worldly possessions
with each other. They met together
to hear the Apostles’ words and
learn more about the gospel. They
were blessed by God.

RECORD NUMBERS
ATTEND PASSOVER A record number of people attended the Passover Feast in Jerusalem last month. As thousands of people flooded the city for the celebration, extra security measures were taken to keep order. “With so many visitors to the city this year, we had to prepare carefully,” said Tobias, head of security for the city. “Of special interest was security on the Temple Mount.” According to Tobias, many Jews come to the Temple Mount to offer sacrifices and hear rabbis and scholars preach the gospel during the Passover celebration, which lasts a week. Jesus of Nazareth was a favorite speaker on the Temple Mount this year. “He had so many followers listening to him preach,” reported Tobias, “that keeping order was difficult. Many Jewish leaders disapproved of his popularity and of his message.” Jewish leaders took advantage of Christ’s presence in the city and had him arrested and tried for treason. He was later flogged and crucified. However, his followers continue to claim that he was resurrected three days later.
SPIRIT FALLS ON
APOSTLES OF CHRIST The Feast of Pentecost has just finished. During the festival this year, a large group men gathered to hear the Apostles of Jesus Christ speak about his death and resurrection.

CHRIST SUFFERED FOR OUR SINS, 1 PETER 3
Peter reminded the people in his letter that Christ suffered
for our sins! He died to set us free from the consequences
of sin. Peter said, “For Christ also hath once suffered for
sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the
Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).
Now you can see why Jesus said, “For God so loved the
world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life” (John 3:16).
Jesus was God’s gift to us. If we believe in Jesus and have
faith in him and in his sacrifice, we can be forgiven of our
sins and live with God again. We will be saved from being
separated from God.
