project is South Florida Water Management District, located at 330 1 Gun Club Road,

West Palm Beach, Florida 33406. The funding would restore ecological integrity to the

central portion of the Kissimmee River ecosystem, which was affected by the

construction of the nood control project of 1960. This funding in addition to the

President's budget request is neC1!ssary in order to continue construction of an additional

3.5 miles of backfill in Reach 4, :initiate construction of the CSX Railroad Bridge, initiate

construction of the U ~ S h a p e d Weir Structure, and initiate construction of the Pool D

MO & WI (also referred to as the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) Navigation

and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP» in fiscal year 2009.

The entity to receive funding for this project is Rock Island District of the U.S. ArmyCorps ofEngineers, located at Clock Tower Building, P.O. Box 2004, Rock Island, IL

61204. The funding would be used to construct new 1,200-foot lock chambers, begin .

ecosystem restoration projects and complete small-scale navigation aids.

I am requesting funding in the FY09 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies

Appropriations Act, for improvements to an irrigation canal in Tom Green County, Texas. The

entity to receive funding for this project is the Tom Green County Water Control Improvement

District #1, which operates and maintains the canal. The canal is 16 miles long and runs

northeast from the city of San Angelo, Texas. The funding would complete repairs and upgrade

the canals water control systems to help better distribute and conserve water, as recommended

by the Bureau of Reclamation. I certify that neither I nor my spouse has any financial interest in

this project.

Consistent with the Republican leadership's policy on earmarks, I hereby certify that to thebest of my knowledge this request (1) is not directed to an entity or program that will be named

Appropriations Act, Army Corps of Engineers Investigations account, for a study in the Lower

Colorado River Basin, Texas. The entity to receive funding for this project is the Lower

Colorado River Authority. The study area is bounded by the Guadalupe, Lavaca, and Colorado

Lavaca river basins on the west, and the Brazos and Brazos-Colorado basins on the east. This

study is investigating water resource problems, needs, and opportunities to determine whether

improvements for flood risk management, ecosystem restoration and protection, water quality,

water supply and allied purposes have a Federal interest . The funding would be used to

complete the Williamson Creek study and continue other interim feaSibility studies within the

basin.
