quick project description: Architectural standards must adapt to new situations in so-

ciety. Just like domestic bunkers during the Cold War in America, this project proposes

an adaptation to a zombie infection. Having watched 28 Days Later and read The Tip-

ping Point, I developed a system that infects the site with security systems.

hierarchy of parts and material differentiationThe material appearance of the bone and folliage systems was tested both in simula-tion and in physical models. The idea in this assembly is to connect soft folliage to a rigid scaffolding system, and then study moments of elasticity.

viral security

layers of the security system unfolding during intrusion

the secondary system of defense, after the ground sensing system, is the tentacle trap

when the tentacles get an alert signal, they lift the net up and allow the intruder to enter

with the intruder deep under the canopy, the perimeter starts poking spokes down

the spokes eventually flatten to assure the intruder will not be able to escape

The monitoring system is placed in an

interstitial room, describing the meeting

point between three other rooms. The

site security system is visible through

windows in these rooms.

At the root of every set of tentacles and

trap, there is a security lab that both sur-

veys the sensor system and can be used to

observe changes in the zombies’ condition

over time after they are trapped.

Corresponding to the distribution of

volumes on the site, the monitor shows

where the alarm was set off and its level

of urgency.

camouflage in this construction goes as far as visual encryption, hiding inhabited spaces in piles of solid, uninhabitable rocks.
