Education from A to Z

n Here at the 2015 Yankee Dental Congress, there is no shortage of excitement. The exhibit hall at the Bos-ton Convention & Exhibition Center is bustling with activity. Hundreds of companies are on hand, offering eve-rything from intraoral cameras to the latest in restorative materials. Have you been down every aisle yet?

At LM-Dental (booth No. 1631), you can check out the new ErgoMix Mini Implant Instruments. According to the company, the instruments are made of a softer-than-standard tita-nium alloy that is gentle on implants yet effective for calculus removal. diameter, silicone-surfaced handles that are designed to improve comfort.

At Planmeca (booth No. 1631), you can check out the ProMax S3, which has an anatomically accurate extraoral bitewing program, made possible with patented SCARA (selec-tively compliant articulated robotic arm) technology.

According to the company, these extraoral bitewings eliminate gag-ging and capture a greater number of surfaces for better caries detection vs. intraoral modalities and are espe-cially useful for periodontal patients, children, elderly patients, claustro-phobic patients, patients with special needs, patients that gag or patients in pain.

Isolite Systems (booth No. 709) is

isolated, humidity- and moisture-free working field as dry as the rubber dam but with significant advantages — including better visibility, greater access, improved patient safety and a leap forward in comfort.

Plus, the company says, Isolite allows dentists to work in two quad-rants at a time.

TAUB Products (booth No. 2113) is offering its new ZERO-G Bio Implant Cement, a dual-cure implant cement recommended for intermediate to long-term cementation of implant-retained restorations.

ZERO-G Bio Implant Cement works with all substrates and can also be used for traditional crown-and-bridge restorations, according to the company.

The exhibit hall is open until 4 p.m. today.

n The clinical challenge: Instru-ments (tips) intended and used for implant maintenance are too bulky, especially in cases when patients have healthy, tight tissue around the implants.

Proposed solution: ErgoMix Mini Implant Instruments from LM-Dental.

Reasoning supporting the solution: According to LM-Dental, dental prac-titioners were frustrated with the tip sizes of implant hand instruments. In response, LM, a market-leading instrument manufacturer in Europe, designed a series of titanium implant instruments with mini-sized tips.

These LM ErgoMix implant instru-ments are made of softer-than- standard titanium alloy that is gentle on implants yet effective for calculus removal. ErgoMix implant instru-ments also feature replaceable tips and large-diameter (12 mm), silicone-surfaced handles.

The ErgoMix replaceable tip mech-anism is engineered so no tools are needed to change the tips.

The series includes four instrument patterns: Mini Gracey 1/2 — anterior (gray); Mini Gracey 11/12 — mesial (orange); Mini Gracey 13/14 — distal (blue); and Mini Universal — universal, all surfaces (red). They are available as a kit, containing one of each instru-ment and a cassette, or they may be purchased individually.

Mini-sized tips can improve implant maintenance
