Yes, I would be lying if I did not admit I felt echoes of “Lethal Weapon 4” watching this movie. For starters, Marcus is now a grandpa and is ready to hang up his badge, while Mike wants to chase down bad criminals until the day he dies. There is friction be- tween the partners, espe- cially after Mike is shot and near death. It forces both characters to reevaluate their careers and personal lives moving forward. There is no hiding the fantastic chemistry between Lawrence and Smith, who haven’t co-starred in a movie together since 2003, and it just reminds the audience why these two clicked in the first place. The dialogue between the two is expletive ladled, but it’s fun to watch. We see some familiar faces from the past, including Joe Pantoliano as Captain Howard. There is also the ad- dition of new faces in Vanes- sa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig, as members of AMMO (Advanced Miami Metro Operations), led by Mike’s former flame Rita (Paola Nunez). There is some great comic banter between Hudgens’ character, Kim and Ludwig’s character Dom, who I consider nerds with guns. The narrative follows a face from the past returning to settle a score with Mike and a host of others respon- sible for the takedown of the Aretas cartel. Does it suck when you have a past story that doesn’t have any elements from previous en- tries coming into the fore- front? Yes, but the script works. As a spectator you don’t feel as if you’re miss- ing anything of massive sub- stance. The film’s villain, Armando (Jacob Scipo), is one of the best I can think of in the franchise. The char- acter is dangerous and res- onate a level of villainy where the audience’s fears for our protagonists and those they cherish the most. “Bad Boys For Life” does not skimp on the gunfire, the bullets, the explosions, the chase scenes and fight sequences that one come to expect when watching a true action-flick. This movie is just that; fun, frenetic, ex- citing, full of laughs, heart and memorable characters. My mind is already churning with the thoughts of what the writers will craft next as a fourth chapter in the fran- chise has already been given a greenlight. Yes, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are aging actors, but look at Bruce Willis and the “Die Hard” franchise; Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the “Lethal Weapon” franchise. Until these characters are so old that they can’t do the stunts and moves that they are currently doing, we should expect at least several more in the franchise. I use to be a big proponent that waiting an extensive amount of time to shell a se- quel was never a good idea because the audience loses interest. I’ve learned lately that the longer filmmakers wait, the better. Why? It’s like losing a love that you adored, it makes the heart grow fonder, and “Bad Boys For Life” is a perfect testa- ment of that. The 2020 ceremony was held on Sunday, January 19, and it de- livered some surprises. Some of you might be asking why the SAG Awards are so im- portant: it’s because they are a major predictor of where Oscar might be headed. While NOT always 100 per- cent accurate, winning a Screen Actor’s Guild Award can place one in the driver seat to Oscar. Also it doesn’t hurt to have some surprises along the way. Remember when everyone was certain Casey Affleck was a lock for “Manchester by the Sea,” only to lose to six-time nominee Denzel Washington for “Fences?” I remember that same surprise when Meryl Streep won for “Doubt” over Kate Winslet for “Revolu- tionary Road.” Per usual actors and ac- tresses shared their tales of getting their SAG cards, some hilarious, some heartfelt. Tales shared included Christi- na Applegate, Eugene Levy and Cynthia Erivo. Levy’s was hilarious because he went on and on, drawing laughs along the way. I love that the Screen Actors Guild Awards doesn’t have a host because it makes the pacing of the show move seamlessly. The first prize of the night for Male Actor in a Comedy Series went to Tony Shal- houb for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” On the flipside, it was Phoebe Waller Bridge from “Fleabag” who won the SAG award for Female Actor in a Comedy Series. In an up- set, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won the award for Ensemble in a Comedy Series, over what many predicted would be a victory for “Fleabag.” As expected Laura Dern walked away with the trophy for Female Actor in a Sup- porting Role for “Marriage Story.” The predictability this awards season is making it a boring one to say the least. Brad Pitt took home the tro- phy for Male Actor in a Sup- porting Role for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Who knew Pitt was such a jokester. His ability to be so self-refer- ential in his acceptance speeches, says all you need to know about Pitt, the guy seems as real as they come. Leonardo DiCaprio who has co-starred with the titan paid tribute to the one and only. While De Niro’s speech got slightly political, he did it in a way that it was not preachy, and he made it clear as an actor he has the right to speak his mind. I loved what De Niro said, which got a resounding ap- plause from the audience. It was “The Crown” that took the prize for Ensemble in a Drama Series, causing a bit of an upset, as I thought the ladies of “Big Little Lies” might walk away with the prize. Joaquin Phoenix con- tinued his dominance as the front-runner for his work in “Joker.” Look, I like a bit of competition, but hands down Phoenix delivered one of the best performances I’ve seen in the past decade. HOLLYWOOD—Many people who know me are well aware the notion of me binge-watch- ing any show is a rare occa- sion. Why? I just don’t have the time, and if I do have the time it has to be for a series that is so damn good from the start I want to see how the rest of the season plays out. That is what I was treated with while watching the Ap- ple TV series “The Morning Show.” Look for someone who works in the journalism field, you have an idea of how things operate behind the camera, but the way this se- ries captures that mayhem, it is so much fun. I mean we have some seri- ous star power, and it doesn’t hurt that the series is tackling a major issue in light of the #MeToo Movement to address sexual harassment in the workplace. We have Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Reese Witherspoon and Billy Crudup, in very layered, icon- ic and exceptional roles. Carell is known as a comedy God, but this guy certainly can de- liver drama that I don’t think many people ever expected from the guy. As the fallen an- chor of one of TV’s popular morning shows, we’re see- ing his truths come to light and how he isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. What can I say about Anis- ton? This woman is known for playing America’s sweetheart and the girl next door, so when she tackles a role like Alex Levy, she gets to show her dramatic chops more, drop a few expletives and give us an Aniston we’ve never seen before it’s a ton of fun to watch. Dare I say she plays the character of a b**ch quite well? On the flipside, we have her counterpart played by Reese Witherspoon. She seems perfect on the outside, but don’t’ cross Bradley Jackson people. She is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with a veteran and to allow her mind to be spoken re- gardless of the consequences. Witherspoon is that actress who has such a level of ver- satility that it’s awesome to watch on the small screen ver- sus the big screen, where a layered character can be ex- tracted week to week. There is also Crudup, who plays Cory Ellison, the cor- porate honcho who has the wheel for the network at his helm and does WHAT HE wants to ensure the show and the network success. The great thing about “The Morn- ing Show” is that every single player has an angle; everyone wants something and some are willing to go to extreme or excessive lengths to get what they strive for. Cory wants Bradley next to Alex; Alex wants to be able to make that decision herself. There is a game of politics unfolding before our eyes, where it’s obvious there will be win- ners, there will be losers and when the dust settles it will be a whole new playing field. Yes, you can make argu- ments that there is some lev- el of predictability and irony with watching “The Morning Show,” but it’s only a slight glimpse of some of the actu- al mayhem that some of us can predict actually happened behind the scenes with dis- graced “Today” show host Matt Lauer. Am I arguing that Mitch Kessler is a slice of Lauer, not quite, but the mechanisms in place hint at a popular morning host, that’s all I can say? This first season had a lot of meaty material that just kept me intrigued week after week wondering what will happen next? Now that fans know a season 2 is on the way, I can only imagine what other chaos unfolds after the bomb- shells that were dropped dur- ing the series’ first season fi- nale. By David Miller "The Morning Show" is a thrill a minute with a stellar cast. “power” reCap: ‘it’s all YoUr FaUlt’ HOLLYWOOD—I will admit I have not been super excit- ed about the first two episodes of “Power” because it seems all is being told in reverse order, and no major bombshells have been dropped to leave me gasping. I mean we are in the midst of the final episodes of the series, I just expected more. This week’s episode ‘It’s All Your Fault’ turned the focus on Tommy. Yes, it seems each week a character in- tertwined with Ghost is get- ting his or her highlight tale. Things kicked off with Tommy cleaning up the mess of murdering Benny, who retaliated after he killed Joe Proctor. Dear ole mom came to his aide, but he was stuck in a trance. Tommy still thinks Ghost killed LaKeisha, man is he in for a rude awakening when he learns Tasha committed the deed. So we meet Aunt Do- lores, Benny’s sister. Elisa Marie suspected her Uncle Benny was dead because he hadn’t been heard from in several hours. Dolores and Vincent seem to have histo- ry, as we learn her family has strong ties to the criminal world thanks to her Uncle Carlo. Tommy is indeed a mama’s boy people and its bad. Fear has riddled across the tough guy’s persona, and he wants to trek to Cal- ifornia for safety. Tommy is delusional, as his mother spoke plenty of sense that Tommy refused to look at. Elisa Marie listened to that recording her father gave to her, just as Dolores overheard. Chatter about Tommy came front and cen- ter, which caused a trigger for Dolores and Elisa to pin- point that Tommy murdered Joe. They gave the audio to Tariq who feigned ignorance, just as Dolores tried to push the envelope. Tariq you are smart, but Dolores is smarter, and put all the pieces to the puzzle togeth- er in record timing. Tariq alerted Tommy that he’s in major danger, and that Joe’s daughter and aunt have that recording in their possession. Blanca ques- tioned Tommy about LaKeisha’s murderer, but he was refusing to throw his pal under the bust. Tom- my spotted those earrings in LaKeisha’s belongings and it left him unnerved. Tasha you are busted! Wow, Tom- my pulled out a gun and was ready to take out a former ally. Tommy was livid, just as Tasha pleaded her case, but he didn’t pull the trigger, at least not yet. Tommy spilled the tea he knows he didn’t kill Keisha, but the talk about the recording came back front-and-center. The thought that Benny’s pals were after him, proved to be incorrect, just as Tommy paid a visit to the home where Elisa Marie was stay- ing. Tommy murdered both goons, before breaking into the home hoping to get his hands on that recording. He rattled Elisa Marie, and took her hostage to discover how she learned about the recording. Dolores snapped when she discovered her niece miss- ing, and Uncle Carlo made his presence known. Tom- my’s mother talks too much and delivered Elisa Marie the Intel on Jamie and Ghost. The little girl con- nected two dots and learned Jamie and Ghost are the same person. Elisa Marie point blank asked Tommy if he murdered her father, and he didn’t straight out say it, but he certainly alluded to it. After learning about Dre, Tommy released Elisa Marie without hurting a hair on the kid. Tommy realized that Ghost was his pal all along, and Tariq tried to push back, which prompted Tommy to share a bit of knowledge. Vincent tried to corner Tom- my, but found himself on the retrieving end of a major beat down. Making the situ- ation worst was Tommy learning that Tariq was the one who snitched on him. Tommy entered the night- club, and found Ghost’s bloody body lying on the floor. It was apparent that Tommy knows who killed Ghost and was ready to pull the trigger, but Ghost made it clear to let it be. So now it’s official, we saw Ghost actually die in Tommy’s arms. Damn this is twisted, the killer was right in our presence, but we did- n’t even get to see them yet. Tommy’s mother was certain that Tommy mur- dered Ghost, but if she only knew. She received funds courtesy of Ghost, as did Tommy, his classic vehicle. Tommy learned that Spanky was the snitch, and he took him out. Elisa Marie re- vealed to Tommy she knew he killed her father, just as she gave him the recording that he destroyed. So Tom- my drove off in the sunset, which gives me the inclina- tion that Tommy’s arc has concluded. So with only two episodes left, we have four suspects remaining and my money is on Tariq or Tasha, but to be honest, I think its Tasha be- cause Tommy saw the face of Ghost’s killer and he was livid, so Tasha seems culpa- ble. Until next Sunday “Pow- er” fanatics! By LaDale Anderson This week's episode of "Power" was all about Tommy Egan. Nelle BeNsoN UNleashes Chaos oN “GeNeral hospital!” HOLLYWOOD—Just when you think the woman who has caused so much chaos on “General Hospital” was done, Nelle Benson has been sprung from the slammer and loose yet again in Port Charles. Remember those invitations that Sam, Willow, Harmony received in regards to a memorial for Shiloh? They were courtesy of Nelle, who revealed she married Shiloh and now has ties to the Quartermaine family be- cause Shiloh held Oscar’s shares. Yes, even from be- yond the grave Shiloh is still haunting those who he tor- tured the most. Michael was most livid by the bombshell, because he knows how dan- gerous and treacherous Nelle can be. However, the person Nelle needs to watch out for is Car- ly Corinthos. When she dis- covered her nemesis was loose and playing house with Wiley she went into a tirade. Carly suffered the most at the hands of Nelle, so it makes perfect sense for her to want to teach the woman who nearly broke up her marriage, convoluted with Ava who was responsible for Morgan’s death and had her locked away in a mental in- stitution that she is not one to be toyed with. A major war is brewing and I am hoping that it leads to the long-awaited big re- veal that Wiley is actually Jonah. I mean it feels like we’ve been waiting for 2 years for this secret to come to life. Willow and Nelle are at war, Sasha and Chase have been intertwined into the mystery and Brad is feeling the pressure. The truth is about to come out so he needs to prepare for his world to explode in epic fash- ion. Nelle has raised the con- cerns of Michael, who has moved the unstable one into the Quartermaine mansion, but they’ll have company because Sasha is moving in also. Nelle has yet to go toe- to-toe with a woman like Sasha, so this should be fun. Nelle is the catalyst of a lot of chaos, because it seems yet again that Valentin has escaped facing any conse- quences for his action. Mar- tin assured Valentin Nelle has NO IDEA that she is be- ing used like a pawn. The question I’m certain audi- ences want answered is: WHY? This should be im- portant because Nelle and Valentin have never inter- acted from what I can think of. Nina and Jax finally shared their first kiss, which will have her former flame fuming once he finds out. With that said, we have to talk about the return of a fa- miliar face in Detective Mar- cus Taggert (Real Andrews). Yeah, the guy who has been a thorn in the lives of Sonny and Jason is back courtesy of Jordan. This is interesting it looks like the writers are setting up a bit of drama for Jordan and her marriage to Curtis with a former flame in the mix. I wonder how Cur- tis will feel with another guy being a threat to his mar- riage? We haven’t really seen that side of Curtis, so this will be interesting to watch how this unfolds. Taggert was brought back to town on Jordan’s request, and the two are indeed keeping a whopper of a secret. Sonny was already livid to find Taggert speaking to Mike who is mentally ill, so imagine what he will do to neutralize a threat that could potentially cause his father’s Alzheimer’s to spiral even more than what it already has? Once you are a threat on Sonny’s list you remain a threat, people, it never changes. He might be cordial to you, but in the back of the mind he is focused on how to take out that threat. Well, there was a major threat this week in Port Charles as the lives of Jason, Sonny, Mike, Carly, Gladys, Joss, Michael, Sasha and Laura were in danger because of multiple gunmen. It looks like someone is af- ter Sonny and the people he loves. With three shoot- ings happening at once, it was Mayor Laura Webber, who became the injured par- ty. Hmm, this does not bode well for Laura, but at the same time, this is not good for Sonny and company! Something tells me these shooters are connected to Taggert’s return to PC, let’s hope more Intel is released in the coming week’s “GH” fans. By Donald Thompson Nelle Benson is stirring up trouble in Port Charles on "General Hospital."

Thegreat thing about “The Morn-ing Show” is that every singleplayer has an angle; everyonewants something and someare willing to go to extreme orexcessive lengths to get what

they strive for. Cory wantsBradley next to Alex; Alexwants to be able to make thatdecision herself. There is agame of politics unfoldingbefore our eyes, where it’sobvious there will be win-ners, there will be losers andwhen the dust settles it will bea whole new playing field.

Yes, you can make argu-ments that there is some lev-el of predictability and ironywith watching “The MorningShow,” but it’s only a slightglimpse of some of the actu-al mayhem that some of uscan predict actually happenedbehind the scenes with dis-graced “Today” show hostMatt Lauer. Am I arguingthat Mitch Kessler is a slice ofLauer, not quite, but themechanisms in place hint ata popular morning host, that’sall I can say?

This first season had a lot ofmeaty material that just keptme intrigued week after weekwondering what will happennext? Now that fans know aseason 2 is on the way, I canonly imagine what otherchaos unfolds after the bomb-shells that were dropped dur-ing the series’ first season fi-nale.

"The Morning Show" is a thrill a minute with astellar cast.

“power” reCap: ‘ it’s all YoUr FaUlt’HOLLYWOOD—I will admitI have not been super excit-ed about the first twoepisodes of “Power” becauseit seems all is being told inreverse order, and no majorbombshells have beendropped to leave me gasping.I mean we are in the midstof the final episodes of theseries, I just expected more. This week’s episode ‘It’s AllYour Fault’ turned the focuson Tommy. Yes, it seemseach week a character in-tertwined with Ghost is get-ting his or her highlighttale.

Things kicked off withTommy cleaning up themess of murdering Benny, who retaliated after he killedJoe Proctor. Dear ole momcame to his aide, but he wasstuck in a trance. Tommystill thinks Ghost killedLaKeisha, man is he in for arude awakening when helearns Tasha committed thedeed. So we meet Aunt Do-lores, Benny’s sister. ElisaMarie suspected her UncleBenny was dead because hehadn’t been heard from inseveral hours. Dolores andVincent seem to have histo-ry, as we learn her family hasstrong ties to the criminalworld thanks to her UncleCarlo. Tommy is indeed amama’s boy people and itsbad. Fear has riddled acrossthe tough guy’s persona, and he wants to trek to Cal-ifornia for safety.

Tommy is delusional, ashis mother spoke plenty ofsense that Tommy refused tolook at. Elisa Marie listenedto that recording her fathergave to her, just as Doloresoverheard. Chatter aboutTommy came front and cen-ter, which caused a triggerfor Dolores and Elisa to pin-point that Tommy murderedJoe. They gave the audio toTariq who feigned ignorance, just as Dolores tried to push

the envelope. Tariq you aresmart, but Dolores issmarter, and put all thepieces to the puzzle togeth-er in record timing.

Tariq alerted Tommy thathe’s in major danger, andthat Joe’s daughter and aunthave that recording in theirpossession. Blanca ques-tioned Tommy aboutLaKeisha’s murderer, buthe was refusing to throwhis pal under the bust. Tom-my spotted those earrings inLaKeisha’s belongings and itleft him unnerved. Tashayou are busted! Wow, Tom-my pulled out a gun and wasready to take out a formerally. Tommy was livid, just asTasha pleaded her case, buthe didn’t pull the trigger, atleast not yet. Tommy spilledthe tea he knows he didn’tkill Keisha, but the talkabout the recording cameback front-and-center. Thethought that Benny’s palswere after him, proved to beincorrect, just as Tommypaid a visit to the homewhere Elisa Marie was stay-ing. Tommy murdered bothgoons, before breaking intothe home hoping to get hishands on that recording. Herattled Elisa Marie, and took

her hostage to discover howshe learned about therecording.

Dolores snapped when shediscovered her niece miss-ing, and Uncle Carlo madehis presence known. Tom-my’s mother talks too muchand delivered Elisa Mariethe Intel on Jamie andGhost. The little girl con-nected two dots and learnedJamie and Ghost are thesame person. Elisa Mariepoint blank asked Tommy ifhe murdered her father, andhe didn’t straight out say it,but he certainly alluded to it.After learning about Dre,Tommy released Elisa Mariewithout hurting a hair onthe kid.

Tommy realized thatGhost was his pal all along, and Tariq tried to push back, which prompted Tommy toshare a bit of knowledge.Vincent tried to corner Tom-my, but found himself on theretrieving end of a majorbeat down. Making the situ-ation worst was Tommylearning that Tariq was theone who snitched on him.Tommy entered the night-club, and found Ghost’sbloody body lying on thefloor. It was apparent that

Tommy knows who killedGhost and was ready to pullthe trigger, but Ghost madeit clear to let it be.

So now it’s official, wesaw Ghost actually die inTommy’s arms. Damn this istwisted, the killer was rightin our presence, but we did-n’t even get to see themyet. Tommy’s mother wascertain that Tommy mur-dered Ghost, but if she onlyknew. She received fundscourtesy of Ghost, as didTommy, his classic vehicle.Tommy learned that Spankywas the snitch, and he tookhim out. Elisa Marie re-vealed to Tommy she knewhe killed her father, just asshe gave him the recordingthat he destroyed. So Tom-my drove off in the sunset, which gives me the inclina-tion that Tommy’s arc hasconcluded.

So with only two episodesleft, we have four suspectsremaining and my money ison Tariq or Tasha, but to behonest, I think its Tasha be-cause Tommy saw the face ofGhost’s killer and he waslivid, so Tasha seems culpa-ble. Until next Sunday “Pow-er” fanatics!

This week's episode of "Power" was all about Tommy Egan.

Nelle BeNsoN UNleashes Chaos oN “GeNeral hospital!”HOLLYWOOD—Just whenyou think the woman whohas caused so much chaos on“General Hospital” was done,Nelle Benson has beensprung from the slammerand loose yet again in PortCharles. Remember thoseinvitations that Sam, Willow,Harmony received in regardsto a memorial for Shiloh? They were courtesy of Nelle, who revealed she marriedShiloh and now has ties tothe Quartermaine family be-cause Shiloh held Oscar’sshares. Yes, even from be-yond the grave Shiloh is stillhaunting those who he tor-tured the most. Michael wasmost livid by the bombshell, because he knows how dan-gerous and treacherous Nellecan be.

However, the person Nelleneeds to watch out for is Car-ly Corinthos. When she dis-covered her nemesis wasloose and playing house withWiley she went into a tirade.Carly suffered the most atthe hands of Nelle, so itmakes perfect sense for herto want to teach the womanwho nearly broke up hermarriage, convoluted withAva who was responsible forMorgan’s death and had herlocked away in a mental in-stitution that she is not oneto be toyed with.

A major war is brewing

and I am hoping that it leadsto the long-awaited big re-veal that Wiley is actuallyJonah. I mean it feels likewe’ve been waiting for 2years for this secret to cometo life. Willow and Nelle areat war, Sasha and Chase havebeen intertwined into themystery and Brad is feelingthe pressure. The truth isabout to come out so heneeds to prepare for hisworld to explode in epic fash-ion. Nelle has raised the con-cerns of Michael, who hasmoved the unstable one intothe Quartermaine mansion, but they’ll have companybecause Sasha is moving inalso. Nelle has yet to go toe-to-toe with a woman likeSasha, so this should be fun.

Nelle is the catalyst of a lotof chaos, because it seemsyet again that Valentin hasescaped facing any conse-quences for his action. Mar-tin assured Valentin Nellehas NO IDEA that she is be-

ing used like a pawn. Thequestion I’m certain audi-ences want answered is:WHY? This should be im-portant because Nelle andValentin have never inter-acted from what I can thinkof. Nina and Jax finallyshared their first kiss, whichwill have her former flamefuming once he finds out.

With that said, we have totalk about the return of a fa-miliar face in Detective Mar-cus Taggert (Real Andrews).Yeah, the guy who has beena thorn in the lives of Sonnyand Jason is back courtesy ofJordan. This is interesting itlooks like the writers aresetting up a bit of drama forJordan and her marriage toCurtis with a former flame inthe mix. I wonder how Cur-tis will feel with another guybeing a threat to his mar-riage? We haven’t really seenthat side of Curtis, so thiswill be interesting to watchhow this unfolds. Taggert

was brought back to town onJordan’s request, and thetwo are indeed keeping awhopper of a secret.

Sonny was already lividto find Taggert speaking toMike who is mentally ill, soimagine what he will do toneutralize a threat that couldpotentially cause his father’sAlzheimer’s to spiral evenmore than what it alreadyhas? Once you are a threaton Sonny’s list you remain athreat, people, it neverchanges. He might be cordialto you, but in the back of themind he is focused on how totake out that threat. Well, there was a major threatthis week in Port Charles asthe lives of Jason, Sonny,Mike, Carly, Gladys, Joss,Michael, Sasha and Laurawere in danger because ofmultiple gunmen.

It looks like someone is af-ter Sonny and the peoplehe loves. With three shoot-ings happening at once, itwas Mayor Laura Webber, who became the injured par-ty. Hmm, this does not bodewell for Laura, but at thesame time, this is not goodfor Sonny and company!Something tells me theseshooters are connected toTaggert’s return to PC, let’shope more Intel is releasedin the coming week’s “GH”fans.
