(Snyder News photo/Bill Crist) Wilson loses to Hermleigh, 54-0 By Melissa McCaghren Slatonite GM The Slaton Cross Country teams shook off a couple of weeks of inaction as they competed in the Tim Torres Pre Coaches Meet Saturday morning (Sept. 26) at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. Head Coach Landon Sims said he felt the meet went well in spite of the team not being able to compete for two weeks. “We only had two days as a team to prac- tice after not working out as a team for two weeks,” he said. “We had some cob- webs to shake off obviously, but we knew going in that would be the situation.” The course was slightly different than it had been in the past too at Mae Sim- mons, but Sims said they re- sponded to it. “The kids re- sponded very well with the adversity,” he added. The teams competed in the 3A-4A division, with the boys running 5,000 meters and the girls two miles. The girls team finished sixth in the meet. Girls finishers were Mary Jo Parker, ninth, 14:20.07; Presley Alford, 47th, 17:00.34; Sam Gatica, 48th, 17:30.77; Kira Cog- burn, 50th, 17:38.46; Emily Herrera, 17:40.24; Desirae Chapa, 53rd, 18:13.48; and Libby Brown, 56th, 19:59.11. The boys team finished third overall. Boys finishers were Aidan Gonzales, sixth, 19:24.33; Elijah Culver, eighth, 19:51.86; Ishmael Gonza- les, 10th, 20:19.33; Anguel Lopez, 30th, 24:34.68; and Ivan Venzor, 31st, 24:55.91. Slaton competed in the second Acuff Cotton Field Trot Wednesday morning (Sept. 30), and Sims said this will all be practice for the big District meet. “We are just using the next two weeks to get back into the swing of things,” he said. “The District meet is Oct. 12, so we are really using Roosevelt as a workout, after being off the last two weeks. The focus is Dis- trict.” Tiger XC competes in Tim Torres meet By Melissa McCaghren Slatonite GM Roosevelt’s Cross Coun- try team took to the course to participate in the Tim Torres Pre Coaches Meet Saturday morning (Sept. 26) at Mae Simmons Park. Head Coach Kim Clem- mons said the meet was “hot and brutal,” but also helpful for the team. “Mae Simmons is a tough course. It was good for us to get on the hills and run the course we will use at District,” she said. The rule that there are no spectators allowed at the park at this time due to COVID re- strictions also made an impact. “It was eerie. Not the same environment as having 200 plus runners and parents and teammates cheering them on. It was very quick. We literally got off the bus, ran and got back on the bus,” Clemmons added. “We are really ready for things to get back to nor- mal and have meets back to the way they used to be.” In the Varsity girls division, finishers were Joslyn Sala- zar, 10th; Kassidi Benavides, 13th; Lexi Gonzales, 16th; Victoria Montes, 21st; Jas- mine Robles, 25th; Melody Allison, 27th and Brittany Bartlett, 30th. In the Varsity boys division, finishers were Trace Weller, 11th; Dakota Reyes, 21st; Javen Rojas, 22nd; Zak Gos- sett, 24th and Daniel Rivera, 26th. The team hosted and raced in the Acuff Cotton Field Trot Wednesday (Sept. 30). Clem- mons said it was a small meet, this year including Slaton, Lorenzo and Hart, but they plan to add a few more teams. Soon, the District race will be conducted, and Clemmons said the teams are working hard to improve on their last place finishes last year. “We hope to see much im- provement this season and build toward a better season next year. We have a few high school runners - Trace Roosevelt competes in tough Lubbock race Weller, Kass Benavides, Lexi Gonzales and Joslyn Salazar - who have a chance to advance if they run well at the District meet,” she said. “Our junior high teams are solid, and we expect to do very well with our younger kiddos and build the program up.” NOTICE OF SHERIFF’S SALE THE STATE OF TEXAS County of Lubbock NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN That by virtue of a certain Writ of Execution issued out of the Honorable 237th District Court on the 2nd day of March 2020, for the sum of TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED NINETEEN DOLLARS and Fifty-three cents ($235,319.53) under a Judgment in favor of INTERNET MONEY LIMITED d/b/a OFFLINE AS- SISTANT and KEVIN O’CONNER vs. TIMOTHY CASTLE- MAN & CASTLEMAN CONSULTING LLC DEFENDANT, in cause number 2016519740.
