Anderson County Chamber Hosts Fall Festival
The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host the 15th annual Clinch River Fall Antique Festival on October 9th & 10th in Historic Downtown Clinton, Tn. On Friday evening, Oct. 9th from 6-9pm, there will be live acoustic musical entertainment and food vendors in the Hoskins/Lane Park, muscle cars displayed on Market Street, and the antique shops, specialty shops and eater-ies will be open late. New this year to the Festival’s Friday evening activities will be musical entertainment and a chili cook-off by lo-cal fi re departments, located at the Cullom Street cul-de-sac. This year’s entertainment will be provided by “The Parrott Brother’s Band”. Admission and parking for the evening’s festivities are free with a $5 charge for tasting and judging the chili cook-off. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs to sit in while enjoying the mu-sic.
On Saturday, October 10th from 9am-5pm, over 90 antique dealers and artisans will line the streets in the historic district for an old-time street festival. Dealers from throughout the southeast will gather to provide shoppers and visitors a great selection of an-tiques and collectibles. Joe Rossen, antique appraiser, will be on hand to appraise your treasures, beautiful antique cars and trucks will be on display, there will be delicious food, musical entertain-

Roane State Community College has named Joey Smith with the Oak Ridge Fire Department their para-medic student of the year. Roane State Community College faculty member Jala Daniel and staff mem-bers Darren York and Diane Cox have been honored for their work. Daniel, assistant professor of biology, received the 2015 Sarah Ellen Ben-roth Award for Outstanding Teaching. York, coordinator of instructional technology, was named the college’s 2015 administrative staff member of the year. Cox, offi ce supervisor, was named the 2015 outstanding support staff member. Roane State Commu-nity College sophomore basketball player Kassidi Freeman of Madison-ville earned top academic honors in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA). Six ad-ditional players also received recogni-
tion for their academic performance. Freeman had the highest grade-point average (3.83) of any women’s bas-ketball player in the TCCAA. She was named a TCCAA Distinguished Scholar-Athlete.
Roane State sophomores Cayla Oglesby (Lake City) and Danielle Slack (Madisonville), and freshmen Haley Cornellison (Kingston), Madi-son Hampton (Dayton), Amber Hud-gens (Sparta), and Sydney Marek (Cookeville), also received Distin-guished Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Caleb Wheeler has been promoted to senior and Haley Bigney has been promoted to audit department su-pervisor. Brian Wirth has received the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Award for research from the U.S. Department of Energy. It is the highest achievement a DOE midcareer researcher can receive. He is a joint University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory

LBMC staff member Benjamin Alexander has been named to the Tennessee Society of Certifi ed Pub-lic Accountants board of directors as Knoxville Chapter director. LBMC Technologies has been named to the 2015 Value Added Reseller 100 list by Accounting Today for revenue growth.

SEC Offi cial Addresses Chamber
Again this year history will come to life through a re-enactment of the 1804 pistol duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. Burr, fi rst term Vice President of the United States under Thomas Jef-ferson, shot Hamilton, Secretary of the Treasury, in a duel fueled by years of animosity and personal tensions between the two political rivals. Learn what the signifi cance of this duel between national leaders had on Clinton’s history and why once named Burrville changed its name to Clinton. The re-enactment is sched-uled to take place 12:30pm in the “fl at” on Market Street in front of the Hoskins/Lane Park.

Hicks St., Clinton. Goode will present “SEC Football- On The Field”, sharing the view from an Offi cial’s perspective. He will include stories of teams, coaches, players and other offi cials including incidents dur-ing games.

Rocky loves all sports and played football for the University of Tennessee in the early 70’s. He has been involved in football offi ciating for more than 40 years and served as a referee in the Southeastern Conference since 1990. He was also Crew Chief of SEC Referees and served as a Director, Vice President and President of the Southeastern Con-ference Football Offi cials Association. He is currently a Replay Offi cial with the SEC.

Roane State has launched Middle College in Anderson County Schools for 19 stu-dents from Anderson County High School and 17 students from Clinton High School. These students will have a chance to graduate from high school with a diploma and a two-year associate degree through Roane State Community College’s new Middle College launching this fall at Roane State’s Oak Ridge campus. Candidates for Middle College are rising juniors who scored 22 or above on the PLAN test, a pre-test for the ACT. Middle College classes are scheduled in the morning, allowing students to return to their high schools in the afternoons for activities such as sports, yearbook and band. During the fi rst year, students take the same general education courses - courses all college students must take - English, science, math and additional subjects. During their second year, students take different classes based on their major. Students in the same major take the same classes. Chamber Hosts Business Planning Seminar

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center will host a free workshop for potential and existing small business owners and entrepreneurs who want a better understanding of the business planning process.
The TSBDC advises and assists entrepreneurs and small business owners in our area at no cost to them.
This free seminar will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce offi ce, 245 N. Main St., Ste., 200, Clinton, with Jutta Bangs, Director of the TSBDC center at Roane State Community College.
The workshop covers the fundamentals of writing a business plan, as well as specifi cs of market research, operations, and fi nancial projections.

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce and Tennova Healthcare welcome Offi cer Brandon Sharp with the Oak Ridge Police Department. Offi cer Sharp will be presenting on Active Shooter in the Business or Workplace, Tuesday, September 15, 3:30-5:00 PM at the Anderson County Chamber offi ce.
An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confi ned and other populated area. In most cases, active shooters use fi rearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly.
All employees can help prevent and prepare for potential active shooter situations. This course provides guidance to business owners, managers and employees, so that they can prepare to respond to an active shooter situation.

Thirteen students from Anderson County High School and twelve students from Clinton High School participated in Youth Leadership An-derson County’s Orientation/Team Building Day on Tuesday, August 18 at the Life Development Center. The class participated in Leadership Skills Training as well as Team Building on the Ropes Course. Lunch was sponsored by Enrichment Federal Credit Union. The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center will host a free workshop for potential and existing small business owners and entrepreneurs who want a better understanding of the business planning process.
The TSBDC advises and assists entrepreneurs and small business owners in our area at no cost to them.
This free seminar will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce offi ce, 245 N. Main St., Ste., 200, Clinton, with Jutta Bangs, Director of the TSBDC center at Roane State Community College.
The workshop covers the fundamentals of writing a business plan, as well as specifi cs of market research, operations, and fi nancial projections.

An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confi ned and other populated area. In most cases, active shooters use fi rearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly.
All employees can help prevent and prepare for potential active shooter situations. This course provides guidance to business owners, managers and employees, so that they can prepare to respond to an active shooter situation.

Roane State Commu-nity College sophomore basketball player Kassidi Freeman of Madison-ville earned top academic honors in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA). Rocky loves all sports and played football for the University of Tennessee in the early 70’s. He has been involved in football offi ciating for more than 40 years and served as a referee in the Southeastern Conference since 1990. He was also Crew Chief of SEC Referees and served as a Director, Vice President and President of the Southeastern Con-ference Football Offi cials Association. He is currently a Replay Offi cial with the SEC.

Roane State has launched Middle College in Anderson County Schools for 19 stu-dents from Anderson County High School and 17 students from Clinton High School. These students will have a chance to graduate from high school with a diploma and a two-year associate degree through Roane State Community College’s new Middle College launching this fall at Roane State’s Oak Ridge campus. Candidates for Middle College are rising juniors who scored 22 or above on the PLAN test, a pre-test for the ACT. Middle College classes are scheduled in the morning, allowing students to return to their high schools in the afternoons for activities such as sports, yearbook and band. During the fi rst year, students take the same general education courses - courses all college students must take - English, science, math and additional subjects. During their second year, students take different classes based on their major. Students in the same major take the same classes. Anderson County Chamber Hosts Fall Festival
The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host the 15th annual Clinch River Fall Antique Festival on October 9th & 10th in Historic Downtown Clinton, Tn. On Friday evening, Oct. 9th from 6-9pm, there will be live acoustic musical entertainment and food vendors in the Hoskins/Lane Park, muscle cars displayed on Market Street, and the antique shops, specialty shops and eater-ies will be open late. New this year to the Festival’s Friday evening activities will be musical entertainment and a chili cook-off by lo-cal fi re departments, located at the Cullom Street cul-de-sac. This year’s entertainment will be provided by “The Parrott Brother’s Band”. Admission and parking for the evening’s festivities are free with a $5 charge for tasting and judging the chili cook-off. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs to sit in while enjoying the mu-sic.
On Saturday, October 10th from 9am-5pm, over 90 antique dealers and artisans will line the streets in the historic district for an old-time street festival. Dealers from throughout the southeast will gather to provide shoppers and visitors a great selection of an-tiques and collectibles. Joe Rossen, antique appraiser, will be on hand to appraise your treasures, beautiful antique cars and trucks will be on display, there will be delicious food, musical entertain-
