AGENCY SHIMLA, JUL 12
Incessant and heavy showers on Monday wreaked havoc in several
parts of Himachal Pradesh, includ- ing Dharmshala, Mcleodganj,
Bhagsunag, Shahpur and parts of Shimla district.
Many vehicles parked at Bhagsunag got washed away and buried in the
muck as very heavy rain lashed high reaches.
The water level of a rivlet rose above the danger mark at Chauntra
area of Dharmshala flattening four to five shops on the bank of
river. A portion of highway was also damaged by the flash flood and
rising of water level.
Reports of very heavy rain also poured in from Shahpur area of
Kangra district and other places where loss of properties have been
reported.
Deputy commissioner Kangra Mr Nipun Jindal has issued an emergency
alert warning people to take precautions as very heavy rainfall is
to create a flood-like sit- uation in the district for next three
to four days.
He said that heavy rain and in- clement weather could snap the
power, telephone and other com- munications services in next two
days. State administration has ad- vised the tourists and local
people against venturing out from their residence and hotels
without veri- fying the condition of roads and flood situation. The
DM said that all the officials should sounds high alert in their
respective areas and rescue teams be kept in ready to
save the lives and avert the loss to property after ensuring 24x7
serv- ices during the inclement weather. The very heavy rainfall
blocked national, state and other link road in the state disrupting
vehicular traffic. Hindustan Tibet National High- way remained off
for couple of hours this morning at Jakhari near the border of
Shimla and Kinnaur
district.

From now onwards Dial 112 will be functional for emergency re-
sponses in Haryana as the new helpline would be applicable for all
kinds of emergency services like 100 (Police), 101 (Fire), and 108
(Ambulance) will be integrat- ed into the unified toll-free number
112.
This round -the-clock multilin- gual facility (Hindi, English, Pun-
jabi and Haryanvi) has been made functional since morning 0800 hrs
on Monday.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, while launching this new single
integrated emergency num- ber Haryana 112 for police, fire and
ambulance emergencies at Panchkula, said that from tomor- row any
person in distress will need to call only 112 which will
immediately direct his call to con- cerned department ensuring the
re- quired help within a time span of 15-20 minutes only.
Expressing happiness over the launch of the system, the Chief
Minister said that the new Emer- gency Response Support System
(ERSS) is certainly a historic step taken towards empowering the
cit- izens of Haryana with round-the- clock Police
assistance.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khattar said that ensuring the safe-
ty of every citizen is the utmost priority of the state government
and taking its mantra of 5S — Shiksha, Swasthaya, Suraksha,
Swabhiman and Swavlambhan step ahead, Dial 112 - Emergency Response

Amidst beating of cymbals, blowing of conch shells and chanting of
'Hari Bol', Lord Ja- gannath and his celestial sib- lings' annual
Ratha Jatra began in Odisha's Puri on Monday with strict adherence
to COVID-19 protocols as the entire coastal town was placed under
curfew.
This was for the second consecutive year and the second time in the
history of the 12th- century shrine that the annual mega-festival,
considered one of the biggest religious events in the country, was
held sans devotees.
The entire 3-km stretch of the Grand Road in front of the temple
wore a deserted look as only some selected priests and police
personnel were allowed to participate in the festival.
Only those servitors, po- lice personnel and officials who have
tested negative for COVID-19 have been allowed to take part in the
festival, Puri Collector Samarth Verma said.
Gatherings on streets or rooftops have been prohibited. The curfew
has been imposed in the interest of public health, he said.
The elaborate rituals started from Sunday night and the sibling
deities, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath, along
with Lord Sudarshan, were carried to their re- spective chariots in
a step-by-step procession called 'Pahandi'.
Descending from the 'Ratna Sinhasana', the bejewelled throne, the
three deities were taken out of the temple down the 22 steps known
as 'Baisi Pahacha' through the Lion's Gate in an elaborate
ritual.

Through the efforts of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Punjab became a
power surplus state which was ruined by the poor policies of the

The people of Punjab need to be aware of this. This was stated by
the President of Shiromani Akali Dal District Bathinda Mr. Balkar
Singh Brar after addressing the meetings in different villages of

300 units to the people of Punjab, on the oth- er, there are peti-
tions for closure of thermal plants in Punjab, which reveals his
dual politics.
On the one hand, Arvind Ke- jriwal talks about the rights of Pun-
jab, on the way to Delhi he demands water for Delhi. He said that
AAP was working as a B team of Congress in Punjab and not accepting
the resig- nation of any MLA was a proof of this. But now the AAP
is gone, every section is
unhappy with the policies of the Congress government and want SAD
to power. He said that free electricity and
water facility was provided to the farmers by the Shiro- mani Akali
Dal.
But the poor policies of the Cap- tain's govern- ment shut down
every facility. He appealed to the people to
vote in the 2022 elections Support the Shiromani Akali Dal so that
facilities can be provided to all sections when the government is
