Johnson-Finn Director, Bastrop County Business Owners Association November 6 is the open- ing of white tail deer hunting in Texas. The sea- son runs until January 7. Hunters all across the state are gearing up for another fruitful season. You can almost hear the sound of taxidermists and meat processing companies pre- paring themselves for the onslaught of business. Be sure that you under- stand the regulations and limitations for Bastrop County before you hunt. It could save you a lot of time, and help you avoid costly fines. In Bastrop County, there is a four-bag limit and that includes no more than two bucks, and no more than two antler- less, all seasons combined. Antler restrictions for Bastrop County The bag limit in this county is two legal bucks, but only one may have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. A legal buck deer is defined as a buck deer with at least one unbranched antler, or an inside spread of 13 inches or greater, which does not apply to a buck that has an unbranched antler. A hunter may also take one buck with an in- side spread of 13 inches or greater in a different county with antler restric- tions, and not to exceed that county's bag limit. Antlerless deer may be taken by hunting license tag during archery, muz- zleloader, and youth-only seasons, except on proper- ties where antlerless Man- aged Land Deer Program (MLDP) tags have been issued; then, take is by MLDP tag only. Antlerless deer may also be taken by hunting license tags during designated periods in the general season. Mandatory harvest reporting Any antlerless deer har- vested during archery, youth-only, muzzleloader, or the four-doe days during the general sea- son is required to be re- ported within 24 hours of harvest to the department via mobile application or online. Report your ant- lerless deer harvest with the “My Texas Hunt Har- vest” app, which can be downloaded on Apple app Store for iOS devices or Google Play for Android devices. You can also re- port online at www.tpwd. texas.gov/myhunt. Managed Lands Deer Program If MLDP buck tags have been issued for a property, harvest is by MLDP tag only and all bucks must be tagged with a MLDP tag. If MLDP antlerless tags have been issued for a property, harvest is by MLDP tag only and all antlerless deer must be tagged with a MLDP ant- lerless tag. The landowner or designated agent are responsible for providing MLDP tags to the hunters on MLDP properties. All hunters using MLDP tags are required to possess a resident or non-resident general hunting license. Experience in the trenches – three all-district picks return – and an experienced quarterback, are good places to start. QB McLaughlin (1,178 passing, 11 TDs) burst on the scene, benefiting from blocking by OL/DL Cohn and Sinor. DL Torres (51 tackles, 3 sacks) anchors the front, and LB/DB Johnson (75 tackles) provides another all-district returnee. RB/DB Watson earned all-district honors in the secondary but figures to feature on offense this season. If the Eagles can get consistent play from WR Joshua Roberts, the offense can put pressure on rival defenses. LA GRANGE @SMITHVILLE Smithville-Coach: Cyril Adkins Last Week- lost to Cuero 53-25 La Grange -Coach: Matt Kates Last Week- defeated Giddings 27-14 Players to watch- QB/DB Bravion Rogers (6-1, 185, 4.4), RB/LB Ryder Imhoff (5-10, 180, 4.7), WR/DB Dana Baker (5-11, 175, 4.5), LB/TE Andrew Faske (6-3, 210, 4.7). Top juniors: OL/DL Jaren Woods (6-4, 280, 5.0), RB/LB Jakobe Wilkerson (5-10, 170, 4.6). Notes on LG - The Leopards will use a familiar formula to get back to the playoffs. Elgin Middle School football will end their season this week, Tues- day November 2, with a final showdown against Marble Falls at 6 p.m. 7th grade will host Mar- ble Falls here at the old WIldcat Stadium (next to Elgin Elementary School) while the 8th graders will play at Marble Falls. Let’s go, Middle School Wildcats!

November 6 is the open-ing of white tail deer hunting in Texas. The sea-son runs until January 7. Hunters all across the state are gearing up for another fruitful season. You can almost hear the sound of taxidermists and meat processing companies pre-paring themselves for the onslaught of business.

Be sure that you under-stand the regulations and limitations for Bastrop County before you hunt. It could save you a lot of time, and help you avoid costly fines. In Bastrop County, there is a four-bag limit and that includes no more than two bucks, and no more than two antler-less, all seasons combined.

Antler restrictions for Bastrop CountyThe bag limit in this
