With so much uncertainty in the world, the resolve of our

priests and religious, ministers and teachers, and all people of

faith has only grown stronger in Brooklyn and Queens, but so

have the needs. More than ever, we need your help to spread

the light of Christ to our city and neighbors by giving to 2021

Annual Catholic Appeal. Your participation joins you in

faith with others in the Church to do good works during

challenging times in new innovative ways. The work you

support with a donation to the Appeal goes beyond the

abilities of any one parish while

benefiting the faithful in all parishes including

St. Michael’s. As a committed parishioner, friend and

Catholic, we need your support to uphold our mission.

The "R & R" Collections will be helping us to pay

for the Renovation of the Pope Francis Center.

We ask all parishioners to be as generous

We would like to tell you about the Sunset Park CSA. Our mission is to

make healthy and affordable food available to everyone in the Sunset

Park community. We offer fresh vegetables grown at a farm in upstate

New York. The vegetables are delivered to Sunset Park every week from

June 3, 2021 until November 10, 2021. We also offer fresh local fruit,

eggs, bread and coffee. You can choose a weekly plan or an every other

week plan. You will receive 7-10 herbs and vegetables at each pick up,

in addition to other products you choose. We have a sliding fee scale

and vegetables cost $16 - $30 per week depending on your income. We

also accept EBT payments for vegetables and fruit. The CSA pick up is

located at St. Michael's Church in the rectory every Wednesday from

5:30-7:30 pm. For more information, please

Nos gustaría contarle sobre Sunset Park CSA. Nuestra misión es hacer

que los alimentos saludables y asequibles estén disponibles para todos en

Due to the generosity of parishioners, business owners, and other contributors, a very successful “Lights of

Inspiration” scholarship fundraiser was held this Christmas. Today, we are able to offer (4) scholarships in the

amount of $2,500.00 each, to help the youth of St. Michael’s Church reach their dreams. The Lights of

Inspiration scholarships are available to all young people of St. Michael's Church who

are currently enrolled in or will be entering college in the fall of 2021.

In a 1000 to 1500 word essay, thoroughly answer one of the questions below. It will be evaluated on content but good grammar should not be ignored.

1. The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount

a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure . How did it affect you, and what did you

learn from the experience? What would you do differently if you could relive that experience?

2. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your

thinking? What was the outcome?

3. How will an education help me “give back” to my Community, Church, City, or Country in the

Future?

Gracias a la generosidad de los feligreses, dueños de negocios y otros contribuyentes, se llevó

a cabo una muy exitosa recaudación de fondos de “Luces de Inspiración” esta Navidad. Hoy,

podemos ofrecer 4 becas por una cantidad de $ 2,500.00 cada una, para ayudar a los jóvenes de

la Iglesia de San Miguel a alcanzar sus sueños. Las becas “Luces de Inspiración” están

disponibles para todos los jóvenes de la Iglesia de San Miguel, que actualmente

están inscritos o ingresarán a la universidad en el otoño de 2021.

Marine Pilot Thomas Phelan, FDNY Memorial Scholarships

We are happy once again, to be able to offer 3 Scholarships (in the amount of $2,000 each) to any young

parishioner who will be entering college in September 2021 or who is currently studying in college.

These Scholarships, in honor and memory of Sr. Peggy Ford, Capt. Dennis Morales, NYPD, and

Marine Pilot Thomas Phelan, FDNY are given to help young parishioners who are striving to follow the

examples of these three individuals, by “giving back” to the Community in service, especially by

continuing their education to be better equipped and prepared to serve in a particular career or vocation.

Nuevamente estamos felices de poder ofrecer 3 becas por la cantidad de $2,000 cada una, a cualquier

joven feligrés que esté listo para ingresar a la Universidad en Septiembre 2021, o que se encuentre

actualmente estudiando en la Universidad. Estas Becas, en honor y memoria de la Hermana Peggy Ford

y el Capitán Dennis Morales, NYPD, y el Piloto Marino, Thomas Phelan, FDNY se ofrecen para ayudar

a los jóvenes a que se esfuerzen por seguir el ejemplo de estos tres individuos, para devolverle a la

comunidad con su servicio, especialmente al continuar su educación para estar mejor preparados para
