‘‘People normally call mewhen things are too late,’’Pudd said.
‘‘They don’t often triggerthat something is wronguntil their toilet is bubblingback over or there’s a ter-rible smell coming fromtheir septic tank.
‘‘But people can get themcleaned out more regularlyand be a bit more proactivein keeping an eye onthings.’’
Pudd typically finds andcleans septic tanks, sewer-age treatment systems andportable toilets.
He travels as far as Euroaand Heathcote and services

‘‘When people move intoa new house, often theyhave no idea about how tocare for their septic tank orwhere it even is,’’ Pudd said.
‘‘I can help them findtheir septic using a metaldetector and also educatethem a bit about how theirseptic works.
‘‘It’s not a complicatedsystem, but it needs to beflowing right for everythingto be working correctly.’’
And while it is anuncomplicated system,Pudd’s job is not as simpleas sticking a pipe in andpumping out a tank.
‘‘The original owner,Peter, was the original poo-ologist and an excellentteacher — there are lots ofdifferent types of tanks, ofdifferent ages, and there aredifferent ways to find lidson tanks,’’ Pudd said.● To request a free quote, get in touch with Hayden‘‘Pudd’’ Saunders on 0418138 139.

For the third year in arow, the Ruby and Pearls ofKilmore has welcomed wo-men from across the state toenjoy a relaxing and joyouscatch up.
‘‘We welcomed ladiesfrom Rowville, Surrey Hill,Bendigo, Bacchus Marshand all over the country-side,’’ Queen Janesca JanChilds said.
‘‘It was an absolutely bril-liant day. In fact, before weeven got back to the docksome ladies were asking mewhat the date would be fornext year.’’
Prior to shipping off at11 am, women gathered forsome prizes that Jan hadmade up especially for theoccasion.
‘‘We had good qualitydrink bottles and I made upsome origami rabbits to putearrings on. So we had 11prizes and the ladies couldchoose what they wanted,’’she said.
On board, the ladies weretreated to a game of RedHat Bingo.
‘‘It’s a bit like ordinarybingo except instead of call-ing out numbers, we call outitems of clothing or acces-sories the ladies would bewearing,’’ Jan said.
‘‘Whoever called outbingo would win $25 andessentially have her cruisepaid for.’’
It is tradition for the Red
Hat Society to sport justthat — red accessories andpurple clothing.
What some may notknow is that in the month of
their birthday, the womenare able to switch it up andwear red with purple acces-sories.
This was the case for five
women on board and it wasdefinitely a reason to cel-ebrate.
‘‘The traditional instru-ment of the Red Hat Society
is a kazoo and it just sohappened one lady broughthers along. She played Hap-py Birthday for the ladies, itwas amazing,’’ Jan said.
For the rest of the cruise, the women were able torelax, socialise and evenenjoy a glass of wine untilthey made it back to shore.
