Marion County is seeking a County Manager. Marion County has approximately 40 full-time and part-time general government employees and operates on a budget of $4.1 mil-lion in the general fund and $800,000 in enterprise funds. Minimum Qualifi cations: Bachelor’s degree from an ac-credited institution, preferably in Public Administration, Political Science, Planning and Community Development, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of ed-ucation and experience. Th ree to fi ve years’ experience in local government, including experience in budgeting and fi nance as well as progressively responsible supervisory and management experience. Good interpersonal, oral and written communi-cation skills. Valid Georgia driver’s license required. Must be bondable. Major Duties: Manage and direct the County’s department heads and staff to accomplish goals and objectives of elect-ed and appointed offi cials. Evaluate the county’s department heads and staff with respect to their carrying out their duties and responsibilities. Ability to communicate and work with elected and appointed offi cials. Develop operating and capital budgets for Commission’s consideration annually. Develop and maintain positive work-ing relations with other local governments and state/federal agencies. Conduct research into various issues facing the County and make appropriate recommendations to Com-mission on a wide range of issues. Lead County staff in the accomplishment of County goals and priorities. Manage and direct consultants to facilitate development of local projects, whil fostering cooperation among various private/public part-nerships. Cheokas received 5,770 votes(52.36%) to Brown’s 5,249votes (47.64%). Cheokas received a majorityof the votes in Marion Coun-ty and Schley County, whileBrown received the majorityin Chattahoochee County andSumter County. The county-by-county vote to-tals are below. * Marion County: Cheokas -1,236; Brown - 936. * Schley County: Cheokas -935; Brown - 328. * Chattahoochee County:Cheokas - 343; Brown - 362. * Sumter County: Cheokas -3,256; Brown - 3,623. The National Family Partnership (NFP) sponsors a Red Ribbon Celebration every year, and last week it was celebrated in Schley County Middle and High School. The students got a red ribbon to wear all week long. Each ribbon had a number on the back and every day 29 numbers were chosen. Those wearing a ribbon with the chosen numbers were given the choice of a t-shirt, candy bag, or pair of ear buds as prizes. The event was funded as part of the SADD (Students Against
Destructive Decisions) grant through Schley County Family Connections Collaborative. Tracy Elliot was in charge of the Red Ribbon Celebration. The NFP provides drug awareness and serves as a
catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world.

Gerald Greene, incumbent Republi-can, won reelection to District 151 of the House with 55.05% of votes to beat Ezekiel Holley, Democrat, who got 44.95%.
