The 10-12-year old stu- dents are introduced to computer assisted design computer programs, flight simulators and Bernoulliís principal, Newtonís three laws of motion, and many other experiments. This is not a summer camp, but a science learn- ing opportunity that many students do not have the opportunity to enjoy in a normal classroom setting. Starbase Atlantis, locat- ed at TTF Bangor, room D-202, has scheduled a summer session running from Aug. 2-5. Military and civilian DoD employees and family members that have not attended the program or that are not scheduled for the upcoming school year are invited to apply on a first come first serve basis. There is no cost to attend. The hours of the program will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Students will need to bring a lunch and a non-carbonated drink. By the way, the students will be launching and build- ing their own rockets! Required applications can be filled out and returned to Starbase Atlantis direc- tor Mo Yates. They can be accessed online at: starba- seatlantisbangor.pbworks. com. Please ensure that all forms are signed. Enrollment is open for 9-12 year old, with registration ending (for kids and mentors) on July 28. There will be a parent meeting July 24 at 9 a.m. at the BHAC building (#2850 off Thresher Ave.) on Naval Base Kitsap Bangor. There will be bouncy houses and games for kids and adults alike, as well as door prizes and raffles for bicycles, and back-to-school supplies and backpacks full of good- ies to be won. The Fire Department will be out with big trucks for the kids to explore, and many activities and booths to experience.
