ISRO to launchrecord 22 satellites in

single missionTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Mar 28:

India is all set to script historyby launching a record number of22 satellites, including a numberof micro and nano ones from for-eign countries, in a single missionin May this year.

The Indian Space ResearchOrganisation (ISRO)'s workhorsePolar rocket PSLV C34 carryingIndia's Cartosat 2C would alsohave 21 other satellites fromcountries, including US, Canada,Indonesia and Germany as co-passengers, a senior ISRO officialsaid today.

"We are planning to launch asmany as 22 satellites on boardPSLV C34. We had earlier sent 10satellites on a single mission.Now, we are planning more thandouble. We hope that the launchwill be in May," ISRO's VikramSarabhai Space Centre (VSSC)Director K Sivan told reportershere today.

It is the highest number ofsatellites ever to be launched bythe space agency, which had earli-er sent ten satellites into orbit in asingle mission in 2008.(PTI)
