SEPP Discussion Groups
• Discussion Groups (DGs) are created to foster conversation on a particular topic and incubate work projects.– DGs communicate electronically and F2F– A worksite archives documents and messages– Each DG has a group leader who facilitates– Some overlap, but minimized

Creating a Discussion Group
• Create a proposal based on the template:– Proposed name– DG leader’s name– Discussion topic– Five participants
• Reviewed by SEPP Liaison (Mark Norton)
• Approved by Sakai PI (Joseph Hardin)

DG Lifecycle
• Discussion groups are charted initially for one year.
• At the end of that time, the group is reviewed for activity.
• Inactive groups are retired and archived.

SEPP Work Groups
• Work Groups are created around a work project.
• Projects are initiated by a SEPP DG.
• Projects have a finite life time specified by their charter document.

Creating a SEPP Work Group
• Submit a work group proposal based on the template document containing:– Work group name– Project leader– Funded work participants– Scope of work– Rough schedule

Examples of Projects
• Content Management System Requirements– SEPP Content and Authoring DG
• Port of the SCORM engine to Sakai– SEPP Content and Authoring DG
• Other possible ideas:– New development– Localization and Translations

Work Group Life Cycle
• A work group (in general) lasts for the duration of the project described by it’s charter.
• Delays and extensions can be considered.
• Inactive or unfunded projects will be retired.
